Introduction

Country music finds its origins in the Appalachian Mountains, and it is synonymous with Southern (United States) culture. Surprisingly, country music as we know it can be traced back to the immigrants to the southern part of the Appalachian range. A good many of these people hailed from eastern Europe, and, when they migrated to America, they brought with them the music of their homeland. This music often incorporated banjos, steel (pedal) guitars, acoustic guitars, and fiddles. At its inception, country music was known as "hillbilly music," but, in the 1940s, more people began referring to this hillbilly music as "Country-Western" music. The music is know for its signature melodic sounds, ballads, peppy dance numbers, and lyrics that focus on faith, family, and hard work.

Country Music Inspired Dog Name Considerations

What type of dog is fitting of a name inspired by country music? It has been said that country music lyrics typically feature the loss of a significant other, a dog, or a family member. A joke quips if a person plays a country music record backwards, that you will get all these things back. However, there are some very clever and celebratory lyrics featured in country music.

It may seem a little stereotypical, but often Hounds, Beagles, and Labrador Retrievers (which happen to be one of the favorite dog breeds of the Southern states) are the most fitting breeds for a name inspired by the country music genre. Most historians recognize Bristol, Tennessee as the birthplace of country music. Therefore, the Tennessee Treeing Walker Coonhound breed is especially suited for a country music inspired dog name.

Then again, no Southern lady would be complete without a small dog to serve as her companion! In the Southern states, Yorkshire Terriers, Maltese, Miniature Poodles, and designer dogs such as YorkiePoos are quite popular. These dog breeds are also suitable for a name inspired by country music.
