Introduction
Cyprus Dogs in Pop Culture
The Thin Man is a classic movie from 1934. It was nominated for four Oscars and was directed by W.S. Van Dyke. The dog in the movie was a Wire Haired Fox Terrier who stole the hearts of many.
It is about a detective, who had since retired, and his wife Nora, and their dog, Asta. Coming back into the investigative scene, Nick goes back to New York with his family to study a case. The case was a murder of a man’s mistress. Nick, at first was hesitant about getting back into his old career but was coaxed by his wife. Eventually, he solves the case and makes an announcement of the murder to all of the suspects of the murder at a dinner party.
Alaskan Malamutes are another well-known breed seen in Cyprus. Several Alaskan Malamutes were in the movie Snow Dogs. The movie is about Ted Brooks, who is a dentist (he was adopted) who lives in Miami, Florida. He finds out that his birth mother passed away and he was left in her will. In order to get his inheritance, he must go to Alaska, but the inheritance was not quite what he expected. What he received from her will was a pack of sled dogs, Alaskan Malamutes, and all of her property.
At first, the dogs were very disobedient and rowdy, but Ted marches on and decides to keep them. He also decides to race the dogs in the Arctic Challenge, a local sled race. He does this in part because a mountain man made it clear that he wanted the dogs. So, Ted, who knows absolutely nothing about sled dogs or racing, decides to go for it. That is what makes this movie a comedy; it shows all of the ups and downs he must fact in order to race the dogs.
Judy: A Dog in a Million, is about an English Pointer. The book was written by Damien Lewis. It is a story about World War II and the sacrifices this dog made to impact the lives of many, and save them as well. Judy was a POW, as a canine, in the war. She was admired by many men that fought and was a real war heroine. The author paints a vividly descriptive picture of events in the war and how Judy was a major part of many men’s lives.
Cyprus Dog Name Considerations
If your dog has a personality trait that really stands out, you may choose a name after that, such as Spunky, Sassy, Dashing, or Honor. A human name is also fitting for many breeds, such as Lenny, Amelia, or Lucy.
If you wish to change the name, such as in a foster situation, keeping the name as close to the old name as possible will be less confusing to your new family member. For example, if you wish to adopt or rescue a dog named Sonny, you may want to change it to Honey or Benny.
No matter what, the name you choose for your new dog will match, especially if you take a few days to get to know your new pup. You can ask your friends and family for suggestions and make it a fun event for everyone!
