Introduction
Dog Names Meaning Feisty in Pop Culture
Sasha had a knack for becoming close to her handlers. In fact, Sasha's original military handler, Marianne Hay, became so close to Sasha that she asked that the dog be reassigned. Sasha was reportedly one of the best bomb detection dogs in her unit, the 104 Working Dog Unit. Sasha was trained to find a variety of bombs and weapons, including mortar bombs and land mines. All the troops loved Sasha, and she was said to help raise the morale of her fellow soldiers. Sasha was given to Lance Corporal Rowe in May 2008, and the pair was killed in action in July of the same year. A sniper wounded Sasha, but she bravely did her best to get back to Lance Corporal Rowe, who was fatally injured during the ambush. Sasha was killed by grenades during the attack.
Even though the pair only worked together a few short months, together, Sasha and her handler made a total of fifteen confirmed finds of ammunition caches and explosives. Lance Corporal Rowe's family was given his posthumous award of the Elizabeth Cross, and Sasha was honored with a Dickin Medal (also known as the Victoria Cross, a special award for service animals).
Another rather famous pup named Sasha is a Pomeranian and Miniature Poodle mix that can be found on Facebook. While this Sasha does not have a huge following - mostly close friends and family members - she is just as sassy as her feisty name suggests! Sasha can often be found posing alone or with her owner. Her human family believes that Sasha is the "best dog ever!" and they treat her like a part of the family, not a pet.
One last feisty Sasha is an actress (a dog trained to act) owned by Beverly Beaton. Sasha the Dog starred in the move The Bagman in 2002. In The Bagman, Sasha played the part of Victor.
Dog Names Meaning Feisty Considerations
One type of dog has a definite tendency toward feistiness. This is the terrier group of pups. This includes the Boston Terrier and the Miniature Schnauzer. Often, these boisterous pups may drive their pet parents crazy with their antics, but, at the same time, a terrier will win you over with their propensity for loyalty and their need to protect their owners and loved ones. The Boston Terrier is particularly territorial with their family, and they may often physically put themselves in between you and your spouse or another family member. They are also quite "full of nervous energy," a habit that the Boston Terrier never seems to outgrow.
Other breeds that fit the definition of "feisty" are the Shipperke, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, the Brussels Griffon, and the Shetland Sheepdog. Any and all of these breeds are suited for a feisty name!
