Our second featured famous dog with a name that starts with K is Kipper the Dog. Kipper is a dog depicted in a British animated children's TV series, which was taken from a book series of the same name, written by British author Mick Inkpen. The book series is a sweet assortment of stories in which Kipper enters into many exciting episodes with his friends Tiger, Pig, Arnold and Jake. The book series, as of July 2005, is comprised of 34 books targeted for pre-school children, winning a multitude of awards, selling more than 8 million copies and having been translated (at that time) into over 20 different languages.
These two spotlights certainly got our attention in their hey day and still offer some sweet memories for those of us who enjoyed them as children. They also offered some great life lessons with many important life issues being taught, using two very different methods, to help children learn some very basic things to build some groundwork for the next level of their development.
