Vincent Chase, known to his friends affectionately as "Vinny," is the star of the Entourage television series and the film based on the show. Vinny was born on the East Coast. His first hit movie is titled Head On. Although he decides to move to Hollywood, Vinny can't leave his friends and family behind. The young star buys a mansion in Hollywood and invites his buddies to join him out west. Eric Murphy, his childhood best friend, becomes his manager and is known as "E" throughout the series. "Turtle" is Vinny's driver, and he accompanies Vinny pretty much anywhere Chase travels. Vinny's brother Johnny (known as Johnny Drama) is also working on his burgeoning acting career. The crew is rounded out by Vinny's dynamic agent, Ari Gold. Vinny is the star of this television show, but he would be incomplete without his crew of friends.

Vinny as a dog's name is a rather popular one. An online search of dogs named Vinny returns many interesting pups. One dog that might be well-known among young and old alike is a fictional dog that is featured on the cartoon Family Guy. Vinny is the dog that the Griffins purchase after the death of their long-time pet, Brian. Another Vinny the Dog was once known as Fat Vincent the Dachshund. Fat Vincent was a foster dog. When he came to his foster family, they nicknamed the chubby pup Fat Vincent. However, his foster parents put him on a diet and Fat Vincent became Skinny Vinny. Fat Vincent originally weighed in at thirty-eight pounds. By the time Skinny Vinny left his foster home to be adopted, Vinny had lost nineteen pounds.

Both of these Vinnys were adopted into happy, loving homes.

Entourage Inspired Dog Name Considerations

The guys on Entourage spend the bulk of their time jet-setting around the world. That type of lifestyle does not always lend to one that allows for pets, particularly dogs, who tend to have a great amount of time from their owners. However, Vincent Chase does consider bringing home a guard dog. For this purpose, he acquires a Rottweiler that the guys call Arnold.

There is a reason that Chase brings home a Rottie. He is told that the dog will be a "vicious attack dog." Because he is away so often and for long periods of time, Chase thinks this is the best way to guard his Hollywood home when he has to be out of town (half-brother Johnny, who lives with Vinny, cares for Arnold and watches the property while his brother is away). Little do the guys know that Rottie Arnold will actually become one of their best friends. The writers of the show purposely chose a Rottweiler to show the good points of the breed, who, in the 1990s, was often vilified as a potentially aggressive dog.
