Introduction

Inspired by Hans Christian Anderson's story "The Snow Queen," Disney's Frozen tells the tale of Princess Elsa and her sister Anna. Elsa possesses a type of magic described as cryokinetics. Elsa doesn't quite understand how to safely harness her abilities, and she spends most of her childhood sheltered within the castle. Eventually, issues with her sister and Prince Hans of the Southern Isles cause Elsa to let lose her powers on an unsuspecting crowd. The rift between Anna and Elsa eventually causes a perpetual ice storm over their land. Knowing that she is the only person who can repair her damaged relationship with her sister - and save their people from a chilly future - Anna sets off with Kristoff and his charismatic reindeer Sven. Anna's bravery will result in a repaired relationship with her sister, and a return to happiness for all the land.

Frozen Dog Name Considerations

Elsa possesses a kind of power known as cryokinetic power. This means that, based on her emotions, Elsa may unleash a frozen blitz on those around her. Certainly, she turns her homeland into a virtual iceland after a spat with her sister regarding a proposal from Hans. For quite some time, Elsa and Anna's home of Arendelle is a frozen mass. Anna knows that the only way to make things right is to literally make things right with her sister.

Because Frozen is the story of a frozen land, dogs that are native to colder regions are best suited to dogs native to colder areas. The audience is informed that Anna and Elsa's hometown is located in the Scandinavian mountains. For this reason, the Danish Mastiff, the Swedish Elkhound and the Norwegian Elkhound are especially suited for Frozen-inspired dog names. Names such as Olaf and Kristoff are particularly suited to these breeds as they also reflect traditional names of that part of Europe. Dogs native to colder climates are also a great fit for Frozen-inspired names. The Alaskan Malamute and the Siberian Husky are associated with the frozen tundra of the far north. However, dogs such as the Samoyed, the Saint Bernard, and the Akita are also traditionally cold-climate dogs.
