They manage to escape before they can get harmed by the attackers. Later on in the film, Sam is seen with Riggs again, this time comforting him as he mourns Rika’s dead body.

In the last two films of the franchise, Sam is still featured, albeit in smaller roles. In Lethal Weapon 3, he is only seen briefly with Riggs and his new dog, a Rottweiler, as they all watch The Three Stooges. In Lethal Weapon 4, the series’ final installment, Sam is again seen with the Rottweiler in their trailer while Riggs feeds them with biscuits.
