John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne is a hard rock legend. He began his musical career in 1969 when he became the lead singer of Black Sabbath. The group saw great success with the albums Black Sabbath and Paranoid. Due to personal issues, Ozzy found himself no longer with the band in 1979. He went on to have an iconic solo career. In fact, Ozzy still records and tours on a regular basis. He also found himself a reality TV star with MTV's The Osbournes. It was during the production of the show that most people learned that the man nicknamed "The Prince of Darkness" actually has quite an affinity for dogs, particularly his Pomeranians. As of this writing, Ozzy has a Pomeranian named Rocky. Ozzy was recently filmed (while touring the United States with his son Jack; the television show is called Ozzy and Jack's World Tour) "Facetiming" with his favorite pooch. Both Ozzy and his wife Sharon have owned several dogs over the years.

In 2009, Ozzy lost one of his beloved Pomeranians when it was attacked by a coyote on his property in Australia. Soon after, he bought his current pick of the litter, Rocky.

The name Ozzy has been bestowed on many pups, both fictional and in reality. The 2016 film Ozzy depicts the story of a Beagle who finds himself in a type of doggy prison. Ozzy's pet parents decide to go on an extended vacation; however, they cannot take along their pooch. Thinking they are leaving Ozzy at an upscale boarding facility, the Martins go on vacation reassuring Ozzy they will be back for him. Soon, Ozzy realizes that the owner of the Blue Creek spa is a cover for a facility in which the owner steals the dogs left in his care, plotting to sell them for profit. Ozzy works to escape and return home to his family.

The fictional Ozzy is not the only famous dog named Ozzy. George Harrison once owned a Dachshund named Ozzy. A Goldendoodle with quite an internet following is known as Ozzy the Goldendoodle. He has over 5,000 Instagram followers, on which his profile claims that Ozzy is guilty of stealing socks and shredding napkins. Ozzy recently became a father, an accomplishment of which he is very proud.

A dog doesn't not need to be a Rottweiler or a Pit Bull to be worthy of a name influenced by hard rock music. Any breed, even the tiniest Chihuahua, can rock a musical moniker!
