Introduction
The 2016 action thriller film Inferno, based on the novel of the same name by author Dan Brown, is the third installment of the Robert Langdon film series and serves as a sequel to the 2006 film The Da Vinci Code and the 2009 film Angels & Demons (both of which are also adapted from books by Brown). Directed by Ron Howard, Tom Hanks reprises his role as Harvard symbology professor Robert Langdon as he gets involved in another puzzle-solving adventure to find a virus meant to wipe out a huge percentage of the population. The film also stars Felicity Jones, Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan and Ben Foster.
Inferno Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Tom Hanks is one of the biggest and most recognizable celebrities in Hollywood. Throughout his long career as an actor, he has starred in several critically acclaimed films, including Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Catch Me if You Can and Saving Private Ryan. More recently, he has played the role of Robert Langdon in the film adaptation of Dan Brown novels The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons and Inferno. His undeniable talent and ability to turn movies into a sure hit has made him among the most successful and prolific actors of all time.
But other than his immense talent in acting, Tom Hanks is also renowned for being a dog lover. A lot of his fans got a glimpse of this trait in the 1989 buddy cop film Turner & Hooch, where Hanks starred alongside Beasley the Dog. The two played the titular characters, a cop-K9 duo who develops an unexpected bond with each other. Other than Beasley, two other canine actors had to play the role of Hooch, which prompted Hanks to spend time with the dogs so that they would learn to react to him. The film became an instant hit and helped boost the popularity of canine-centric films. It also highlighted how well Hanks gets along with dogs.
In real life, Hanks is no different from his character. He owned a white German Shepherd, which he called Monty, who has been a constant companion for him and his family. While little is known about Monty’s background and where he was acquired, he is often photographed with his owner on walks and occasionally featured on Hanks’ social media accounts. Hanks has also spoken about his dog in the past. In 2009, he mentioned that he considered leaving their home in California due to a stinky smell brought about by a skunk who attacked Monty and his other dog.
Unfortunately, on January 2012, Hanks shared through his Twitter and WhoSay accounts that his beloved Monty has passed away. Along with a photograph of the pooch, he wrote a beautiful tribute sharing his love for Monty and how devastated he is by the loss. According to Hanks, Monty had a noble demeanor and deep brown eyes. Hanks also referred to him as the “finest dog ever”. After sharing the lovely tribute for Monty, Hanks received an outpour of support from his fans, who gave him words of encouragement and expressed their sympathies for his loss.
Inferno Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Picking a name for your pet is one of the simplest but most thought-provoking responsibilities that you ever have to take on. On one hand, it is a straightforward task of coming up with a name. On the other hand, with all the options to choose from, it can get overwhelming and might leave you stumped. If you are unsure of how to proceed with the dog naming process, a good place to start is pop culture.
Pop culture provides a plethora of ideas for dog names; you can literally name your pooch after your favorite movie, television or literary characters, famous people or other celebrities, pop stars and the like. You can even choose the names of well-known canines and use them for your dog. Usually, the choice boils down to your own preference. For example, if you have a particular favorite film or novel that you want to use as inspiration, you can do so.
For fans of the Dan Brown book Inferno and its film adaptation, you may name your dog after the main characters or even after Dan Brown himself. You may also opt to use the name of the actors, actresses and crew involved in the making of the film version.
