The Kooikerhondje (pronounced Koi ker hond yuh) is also known as the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje and is a self-assured, lively, and happy medium-sized dog. They have what many people call a cheerful demeanor and love being outdoors. This orange and white dog is not ideal for apartment situations because of their love for the outdoors and their need to be working or playing. The Kooikerhondje is not a popular breed in North America but has gained provisional registration status through the American Kennel Club’s Foundation Stock Service (AKC FSS). The decision to add a Kooikerhondje to your home should be made only after thoroughly researching the breed and their care requirements.
