Introduction
Miniature Fox Terrier Dog Names in Pop Culture
Snowy is the famous dog from the comic series The Adventures of Tintin, who was invented by the Belgian Cartoonist Hergé. Snowy is a white Wire Fox Terrier. Although a pure white Fox Terrier is highly unusual, it is possible. This lovable character was the perfect companion dog to Tintin, and the series protagonist. The dog was portrayed as a typical Fox Terrier - intelligence and character were a big part of his persona. Snowy is the co-star of the series, and is able to understand the human language and communicates via speech bubbles (it's a cartoon - how else would he communicate?). Often brave, and forever fearless, he always wants to be at Tintin's side. The cartoon dog has his little quirks (like most dogs do) in that he loves whiskey, and occasionally gets drunk as in Tintin in the Land of the Soviets and Tintin in Tibet. He also LOVES bones, which often presents a moral dilemma for Snowy - such as a choice between carrying out important tasks or to pick up a bone! Ah dogs, you have to love them. This lovable endearing character remains part of pop culture history.
A Fox Terrier called Snitter was one of the characters in the book The Plague Dogs written by Richard Adams of Watership Down fame. The story is about two dogs who escape an animal testing facility and subsequently become pursued by the Government and the media. Snitter is a Fox Terrier who is white, chocolate and tan in the movie. Apparently, Snitter has had several brain surgeries that now merges his conscious and subconscious mind, which causes him to have nightmarish flashes and dreams. Government officials spread rumors that the two dogs (Snitter and Rowf) have the plague, to justify them pursing the animals to cover what they have been doing. Optimistic and brave, the story is true to the characteristics of the Fox Terrier bloodline. Does it have a happy ending? That you will have to find out for yourself.
