Spinone Italiano Dog Names in Pop Culture
The Spinone Italiano sounds more like an ice cream flavor than a breed of dog. These medium sized hounds are rather scraggly in appearance, but loyal, smart and fun to be around. The Spinone Italiano is a rare breed and most people will not have heard of them before. Therefore, people are probably not familiar with Adele, the Spinone Italiano, who is owned by Stacey Belt, the Carson City Deputy Director of Emergency Management. Adele was thrust into the spotlight during the 142nd Westminster Dog Show held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Adele won best of breed and moved onto the group competition, however, she did not advance further and Flynn, the Bichon Frise, won best in show. Afterwards, Adele retired from the conformation show ring at the age of only 4 years.
Adele has had some interesting escapades in her young life, including a jaunt in February of 2016. Adele was hiking with Belt and two other Spinone Italiano dogs when all three canines took off after some type of wildlife. Belt believes they started chasing a deer through the woods. Adele’s grandmother, Tizzy, quickly returned to Belt’s side when she called the dogs back, however, Adele and the other Spinone Italiano, named Mara, continued running through the woods and into thick undergrowth. Both Adele and Mara were officially lost! It took seven days and countless volunteer searchers, along with donations from across the globe to search for the missing dogs. Belt even chartered a helicopter to search from the air. Adele and Mara were found about 21 miles from where they disappeared.
A month after Adele’s escapade in the woods, she won best in show at the Sacramento Dog Show. She then won best in show at an Oregon dog show. Today, Adele has the honor of being one of the Spinone Italiano with the most wins in U.S. history. She was listed as the number one Spinone Italiano in 2017. After retiring from the conformation show ring, Adele sticks closer to home and is currently working on her therapy dog certification. Belt enjoys spending time with Adele while bringing a little joy to those in need. Belt’s husband is also working with Adele in the field since Tizzy, Adele’s grandmother, is ready to retire from hunting. Tizzy is 11 years old and still enjoys field work but she is slowing down. Adele has a natural ability that is being fine tuned so she will make an excellent companion for Belt’s husband when he is hunting.
Spinone Italiano Dog Name Considerations
The Spinone Italiano is an Italian breed and therefore deserving of a fun, unique Italian name to honor their ancestry. Some names originating from Italy may be a little difficult to pronounce, but there are plenty of names that are unique and simply roll off the tongue. Each name has a unique meaning and you can easily find a name that fits your dog’s personality; such as Enzio which is Italian and means ruler at home. This is the perfect name for the dog that has your wrapped around their paw. Then there is Oria which is also Italian and means humble in spirit and nature. This is a wonderful name for a little girl that is quieter and enjoys being snuggled rather than chasing leaves or birds in the yard. By honoring their Italian roots, you can almost be assured that nobody else in the neighborhood will have a dog with the same name. When adding a Spinone Italiano to your family expect friends, family and even strangers to ask what type of dog your new puppy is; be prepared to explain the breed’s name and where they are from. This also gives you the perfect opportunity to test your grasp of Italian and tell them your pup’s name!
