Introduction
Star Wars Rebels Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
The term "trooper" often refers literally to soldiers; however, it has a different connotation when describing an individual who doesn't give up or who seems to "go with the punches." A dog who seems ready to face any adventure with you might be described in this way could be named Trooper. In addition, dogs who seem to have beaten the odds against them might be referred to as "troopers." One such dog is a successful adoption story.
The spotlight dog named "Trooper" is a dog whose rescue and adoption was a success. Trooper is a Labrador mix adopted from a Las Vegas-area shelter. While little is known about Trooper's life before he was adopted out of the shelter, we do know that he came to the shelter with his brother. Trooper was welcomed into a loving home, and he became a "brother" to the family's two dogs and two cats. Trooper enjoys going to the dog park. He is also quite friendly, and he enjoys being petted by anyone who will give him the attention.
One dog that personifies the idea of a "trooper"is a Lhasa Apso mix who was found wandering the streets in Leeds, England in June 2017. The dog had suffered so much neglect that his matted fur caused his leg to stick to his ear. Not only that, poor Soldier - as he would come to be known - showed signs that the skin around his eyes was peeling. When Trooper was picked up by Dogs Trust Leeds - a local shelter - he was sedated so that his fur could be completely shaved off. He was also given fluids to treat severe malnourishment. A former soldier heard about the dog's plight, and he made plans to adopt the dog. Soldier would eventually be given the moniker Trooper, a nod to all the difficulties he had faced only to pull through successfully.
Both these dogs in the spotlight faced difficulties, but both "soldiered on," which is why they earned the name "Trooper."
Star Wars Rebels Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Small dogs might do well with a name like Yoda. Known for his ability to leap unnaturally and speak his own language, breeds such as a Yorkshire Terrier, a Maltese, or a toy-sized Poodle might remind their owner of the agile Yoda.
A large dog such as the Rottweiler, Pit Bull (particularly if he is black or a dark-coated color), or Doberman Pinscher might find the name Vader appropriate. Vader refers to the infamous villain Darth Vader who has appeared in not only the major feature films but also in the animated spin-offs of the film as well. A variation of this name might be "Lord Vader" as he is often referred to by his followers in the Empire. A dog of any breed that always seems ready to face new tasks might be named Trooper (as in "he - or she - is a real trooper").
