Introduction
The Thai Bangkaew is a medium-sized spitz-type breed that originated in the Bangkaew village located in the Phitsanulok Province in central Thailand. This breed is robust and independent. The Thai Bangkaew is aloof and will not easily make up with strangers. They do make excellent guard dogs and will sound an alarm when strangers come near their property. First-time dog owners should not consider the Thai Bangkaew as they require a strong leader with good training capabilities. Because the Thai Bangkaew is so independent, they do not generally do well with other dogs and all other household pets should never be allowed near them. Peruse our list of top-notch names for this strong and capable breed!
Thai Bangkaew Dog Names in Pop Culture
The Thai Bangkaew is rarely found outside of their native Thailand. However, there are a handful of dedicated breeders in Europe who have been working to spread the word about this interesting Asian breed. Thomas and Sharon of No Go Rising Sun Kennel in Belgium purchased Kwan or Multiple Champion Bankrilada’s Kwan Thai from his breeder, Uthen Pholbun of Thailand. Kwan is a white and brown Thai Bangkaew with excellent conformation. Kwan became the first Thai Bangkaew in history to become a champion of Belgium. He was also the first Thai Bangkaew to become a champion of Denmark. Kwan gathered more championships in Germany, Serbia, and Luxembourg. He was the European Junior winner and the Benelux Junior winner in 2016. At the Bundessieger dog shows in 2016 and 2017, Kwan won best of breed and impressed judges with his focus and intense expression. In 2017, Kwan won best of breed at the Europasieger dog show and the DCNH Clubsieger. He was the Benelux Winner of Luxembourg and the Benelux Winner of Belgium in 2017.
Another Thai Bangkaew owned by Thomas and Sharon is Champion Bankrilada’s Manee, or Manee. Manee was also bred by Uthen Pholbun of Thailand and was imported into Belgium as a puppy. Manee was not exhibited as extensively as Kwan but she has her fair share of titles and big wins. In 2016, Manee was shown at several shows and earned two championships: Champion of Serbia and Champion of Denmark Europasieger. She was the European Junior winner, Benelux Junior winner, Benelux Junior winner of the Netherlands, and the Bundesugendsieger winner. In 2017, Manee earned her Champion of Luxembourg title and was the Benelux winner of Luxembourg and the DCNH Clubsieger winner.
Thomas and Sharon started No Go Rising Sun with only the Akita, but in 2016 they discovered the Thai Bangkaew and imported in their first two, Kwan and Manee. The Thai Bangkaew was chosen because they are similar to the Akita, only more active. The Thai Bangkaew is a loyal breed that loves to spend time outdoors and being with their family. No Go Rising Sun Kennel has been represented at dog shows around the world with their four Thai Bangkaew dogs and four Akita dogs. They have carefully selected their bloodlines for health and conformation correctness. The puppies born at No Go Rising Sun Kennel are born in their home and handled from birth to ensure they are well-socialized before going to their new homes.
Thai Bangkaew Dog Name Considerations
If you are looking for a dog that is not common or well-known within the United States or Canada, look no further than the Thai Bangkaew. Keep in mind, though, that this is not the right breed for any home. First time dog owners really should not consider this breed because they are an independent dog and need consistent training and early socialization. Should you decide the Thai Bangkaew is the right dog for you, it may take a while to find a reputable breeder. When you do finally bring home your new Thai Bangkaew puppy, it will be time to start searching for a name.
Being a breed from Thailand, you may want to begin your search by looking at names with roots to Thailand. Some Thai names may seem a little odd or difficult to pronounce, but there are some names that are easier to pronounce and are still as unique as the Thai Bangkaew itself. When your new puppy comes home, take the time to get to know them before you make your final decision on their name. The puppy will most likely help you find the right name as they settle into your home and become comfortable with their surroundings.
