Introduction

Most people do not think of using the Disney classic The Aristocats for inspiration for their new puppy since this is obviously more geared towards cat lovers than dog lovers. However, there are a wide variety of names that inspire memories of this beloved movie without necessarily being feline specific. Searching for the right name that is inspired by The Aristocats may seem odd to some people but devoted fans will understand the need to honor this movie and find a unique name for their newest canine. Being set in Paris, the possibilities are unlimited for coming up with a name that fits your puppy’s personality and allows you to reminisce about an adorable animated movie.

The Aristocats Dog Name Considerations

While it may seem obvious to name a Bloodhound puppy Napoleon or a Basset Hound puppy Lafayette, some of the other character names may not seem to fit so well. And do not think that you have to name your next Bloodhound Napoleon; you can just as easily name a shorter legged puppy by that name especially since Napoleon Bonaparte was known to be a short man. Every Basset Hound does not have to be named Lafayette either! O’Malley is a strong name for a male dog, although it might be a bit of a big name for a little dog. True fans of The Aristocats might have a harder time naming their new puppy after any of the cats portrayed in the movie; however, these names are not strictly feline and will transfer over to a canine without any harm. Edgar may be a funny name for a puppy, but you can play with it and make it into a fun name such as Eddie or simply Ed for a puppy with a sneaky disposition. Duchess would make a great name for any female, big or small, of any color; although a white dog may be more appropriate since Duchess was a white cat. When searching for the right name for your new puppy do not go for the obvious, make it a fun experience and come up with a name that is one-of-a-kind and unexpected.
