The Twilight Saga Dog Names in Pop Culture
Belle or Bella are currently popular names - both for humans and for pups alike. Bella means beautiful, and Belle is often associated with the phrase "the belle of the ball," referring to the most beautiful, most desirable lady in attendance at a party or formal function. Meyer saddled the character with this name to play up the idea that Bella Swan was beautiful even in her "average-ness."
One particular dog was beautiful in the way that she made friendships with even the most unlikely characters. Bella the dog first arrived at the Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary sometime in 2003. The reason she appeared there is unknown, but, once she did arrive, she struck up one of the most unlikely of friendships. Bella became fast friends with Tarra the Elephant shortly after her first appearance at the Sanctuary. The pair was often spotted playing together, eating together, and even napping together regularly. In fact, in 2010, Bella suffered a leg injury which kept her away from her pachyderm pal. While the two were apart, Tarra searched for her canine companion. The caretakers first noticed that Tarra would not leave the Sanctuary office, where she knew Bella to be. Caretakers then brought Bella out to a place where Tarra could see her, but this wasn't quite enough. They eventually took Bella down and outside so that the pair could visit, if only for a moment. Unfortunately, after eight years as best of friends, Bella was attacked. Caretakers were not quite sure of the predator, but, the injuries Bella sustained were too much for her. She passed away, leaving her legacy of friendship behind. The caretakers were astonished that Tarra brought Bella's body to one of their typical hangouts, where she refused to leave her friend's side. Like other elephants, Tarra visibly mourned her loss. The pair's unlikely friendship had an effect on all who heard their story.
The Twilight Saga Dog Name Considerations
Dog breeds that are most closely related to the wolf, and, therefore, are the best candidates for a Twilight Saga-inspired name, are the Shiba Inu, the Chow Chow, the Akita, and the Alaskan Malamute. The Siberian Husky might also be worthy of a name inspired by the Twilight Saga. However, the Shih Tzu, the Pekingnese, and the Lhasa Apso are also - genetically - much like their wolf ancestors.
