Fewer than 600 people live in the borough of Andover in Sussex County, New Jersey, but activities and amenities for residents and visitors to Andover abound. The charming small-town atmosphere in Andover complements the excellent schools that are nearby, and the town also has strong police and fire departments. While the entirety of the town sits on only 1.471 square miles, that space is dotted with golf courses, recreational facilities, and plenty of beautiful single-family homes with spacious yards. While a large yard is convenient for dog owners, there are also other dog-friendly activities in and around Andover for you to enjoy with your pooch.

The Sussex Branch Trail is an 18-mile trail that runs through Sussex County, and you can access it in northern Andover. Not only is this trail pawfect for on-leash dog walking, but it’s also commonly used by cyclists, inline skaters, hikers, and joggers. This trail is just one of 1,600 trails spanning America that were created from previously abandoned railway lines. Along the path, you and your dog will come across many highlights, one of which is the Kittatinny State Park. At this park, you'll see a variety of plant and wildlife species, including flourishing wildflowers in the spring. When it's time for an off-leash activity, there are all sorts of options just a short drive from Andover.
