Dog Areas in Curtis Bay

Curtis Bay is a unique city in Maryland that rests between Brooklyn Park and Fort McHenry. The town is right on the water, which makes it ideal for those looking for waterside property with room for a boat. You will find that many of the homes here that come with significant land also include some sort of dock on the water. If you have a seafaring dog in your family, look no further than Curtis Bay for the pawfect place to call home! While there are no animal hospitals in Curtis Bay proper, there are four in neighboring towns just minutes away.

Curtis Bay is a small town. As such, the neighbors are all close to one another and will be quick to get to know you and your pup if you are moving to the area. If you are just visiting, you will find the locals helpful and quick to suggest great places to visit and explore with your dog. Most of the town is residential, but there are small neighborhood parks sprinkled through the town that you may visit if you wish. You will find a leash necessary in Curtis Bay due to local laws, but also for your dog’s safety and your peace of mind near the busy streets.

Central Curtis Bay describes the area most visitors are familiar with. This part of town is a calm and quiet neighborhood with plenty of robust and colorful streets to explore during your morning or afternoon walk. Make sure you bring your waste bags to help your neighbors keep their yards and sidewalks clean. You will also want to keep water with you on hot days, as the climate in this part of Maryland can reach very high humidity levels. Make sure you keep your pup on leash while walking, as the streets can get quite busy throughout the day, regardless of the day of the week.

Ferry Point rests on a jetty right on the corner of the bay. Its overlook onto the water makes it a great lookout point if you want a serene place to take a longer walk with your dog while unwinding after a long day at the office. Your dog won’t complain one bit, especially if she likes the water and you decide to venture down to the shore in posted public areas. There are no structured parks, but there are a few pull-off areas where you can park and walk down to the water for a closer look if you choose. Make sure you have towels with you for the ride back if you decide to get splashing!

Arundel Village is nestled between Curtis Bay and Brooklyn Park. The neighborhood has its own recreational center and park. Leashed pets are welcome in the outdoor areas of these facilities. There is no fence, so make sure you have a reliable leash for your dog. The facilities can get crowded on nice days, so be prepared to keep your dog’s leash short and your attention focused so that everyone has a pleasant day to remember while visiting Arundel Village. Wagner’s Point is on the northeast corner of Curtis Bay. This neighborhood isn’t at the point of anything in particular. Rather, it is a quiet, peaceful neighborhood with plenty of greenery and trees for your dog’s amusement. Make sure you keep waste bags with you at all times while in this neighborhood. The residents appreciate dog owners who clean up after their pets (but who doesn’t?), so make sure you are mindful of this when visiting. You will also want to throw a towel or two in your bag. The proximity to the bay means that some areas are subject to flooding and high puddles after rain, which you can expect to see in Wagner’s Point throughout the year.

Fairfield is north of Wagner’s Point. This neighborhood runs adjacent to the famed Fort McHenry Channel in the Patapsco River. If you look out, you can see the historic fort across the water on a clear day. Don’t be disappointed if the clouds block your view -- your dog will get plenty of wags and licks out of being with you by the water. You will need your clean-up bags to keep the grass green while walking along the shore of the bay. You will also want towels, as most dogs can’t resist going in for a splash at least once while in Fairfield.

Wag was late getting our dog an hour and a half later and he peed the crate. She was so sweet cleaned it up and very understanding. Definitely going on the walkers preferred list. Sorry for the mess!"
