Dana Point is a modest-sized city found in Orange County, California. While it is well-known for its beautiful harbor, there are also lots of dog friendly restaurants and cafes in the area, as well as pup-tastic parks to explore. There are nine veterinary clinics and animal hospitals in Dana Point, in case of emergency.

Bring your pup to Doheny State Beach for an adventure. While dogs are not allowed on the beach itself, there is a five acre sniff-tastic lawn that they will love. From here, you can enjoy beautiful views of the golden sand and beautiful coastline, as well as watch surfers and other water activities. All pups can be top dog here, as long as they remain on leash. 

When you get hungry, you can take your pick from a bunch of dog friendly eateries. If you love seafood, be sure not to miss Wind and Sea. It also has an outside patio where you can bring your pup and sit around the fire pit. For some good American barbecue food, head to the Rib Joint Roadhouse. This place is relaxed and welcomes dog on the large outdoor patio. For tasty Thai food, you can try Thai Dara. There are three outdoor tables where you can sit and eat with your pup – bone-a-petit!

There are also places you can stay for the night in Dana Point that welcome dogs. This includes Dana Point Harbor Inn where you can bring two dogs that weigh up to 20Ibs, as well as at Doheny State Beach Campground.

For some fun the sun with your pup, head up to Lantern Bay Park. This grassy park is based on a hill, with beautiful views to enjoy over the harbor area and Doheny State Beach. You can also check out the Smythe Bros. Amphitheater here. There are concrete trails around the park, with lots of open grass to play fetch with your furry friend. There is also a light sea breeze that will keep you and your dog nice and cool, with some pine trees for shade on hotter days. All dogs are welcome here, as long as they remain on leash.

If you are feeling hungry, you will find dog friendly eateries in the Lantern District that will suit everybody’s taste. For casual dining, head to the Brig Restaurant. They serve delicious dishes, such as steak, chicken and seafood, as well as fried ice cream! Their whole patio welcomes dogs, so you can choose your seat. For some freshly brewed coffee, check out JC Bean’s Coffee House. Plus, you can even ask for a doggie treat specially for your pup! If you need a place to stay for the night, the Blue Lantern Inn will let you bring up to two dogs with you, as long as you book in advance.

For a relaxing stroll with your pup and to enjoy stunning views of the Pacific coastline, head to Strand Vista Park. Dogs are allowed on the trails here, as long as they remain on leash. There are lots of walking trails you can take, as well as a sidewalk with views over the beach. Since there are stairs to climb up and down, be sure to keep up with your dog as they lead the way! You can also keep an eye out for dolphins here, as they can sometimes be spotted off the coast at the top of Strand Vista Park.

If you dog loves to run free off leash, be sure to head to Creekside Park. This place has a special Dana Point Dog Fun Zone where you can bring your pup for some exercise. The area is fenced in for safety and your dog is sure to have a blast and make new furry friends. Your dog is also welcome to wander around the rest of Creekside park, as long as he remains on leash. There is sniff-tastic grass to explore, as well as a playground and basketball court for the kids. In the area, you will also find the San Juan Creek Trail. This is around one mile long and is pawsome for jogging with your pup.

There is outdoor seating where you can eat and your pup can watch the world go by, as well as enjoy the warm weather in California.
