Dungeness is a small unincorporated community in Clallam County. Located on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, this coastal village has residential areas as well as plenty of natural space. In 1792, George Vancouver named the community after an area in England. The name was also given to the Dungeness crab, a species of crab found in the Dungeness Bay. Crabbing is still a favorite local past time in the area. Although Dungeness does not have its own veterinary clinic, canine care is less than 10 minutes away in Sequim.

Dungeness is home to some pawsome parks that showcase the area’s coastal beauty. Dungeness Landing is a five acre waterfront park. This is a furrific spot for chilling out by the water or strolling along the sand with your furry BFF. Stop by the covered bird watching platform and look for bald eagles and other types of seabirds. This park also has a boat launch and restroom facilities.

Cline Spit County Park is another puptastic option. It may be small in size, but it is worth checking out. Most people come to this park to launch a kayak or cast a fishing line, but there is also a nice stretch of tideland that your pup can sniff around. No wonder dogs can’t get enough of Dungeness!

Is your dog bursting with energy? Then it’s time for a trip to the Sequim Dog Park. This one acre off leash area is located inside the Carrie Blake Park and is less than 15 minutes from Dungeness. Your four legged friend can dart and dash around sans leash. He can also mix and mingle with new friends. Since the local canines are very furriendly, he’ll feel right at home. Small dogs have their own area to play in, so petite pooches can enjoy the park at their own speed. Benches, water, and restrooms are all available. When he’s through playing, clip on his leash and explore the main area of Carrie Blake Park.
