Oil City has a history as colorful as its name. It's the birthplace of the petroleum industry! Whether you're fascinated by the history of oil or not, this is great vacation spot and a sweet place for dogs and dog-lovers to call home. The area is beautiful, and there's lots to do as well. There are two vets inside the city limits, so you don't have to worry about your furry friend as you explore this city.

If you love hiking, look no further than Oil City's own Oil Creek State Park. Hoping to dive right into a challenge? The Gerard Trail in Oil Creek State Park is a moderate trail 12.2 miles in length. It's a loop, so you have to commit. For an easier hike in the park, check out Wetland Trail. This is a much flatter, easier hike. At 1.7 miles long, it's much shorter as well!

Dog friendliness doesn't stop at the doorway in Oil City. The Days Inn Oil City Conference Center offers affordable, pet-friendly rooms for a small additional fee.

If you're looking to make your dog's day, take them to Oil City, where every day is enough to get their tail wagging!

Hasson Heights is a bustling neighborhood, with a heavy residential population. Hasson Park is a park built to serve a robust community. The emphasis is first on the children. Hasson Park has a large playground, with several structures to accomodate different ages of children at play. There's also a disc golf course! You can bring the whole family down and make a day of it; Hasson Park's picnic areas feature cooking pits, so you can serve up hot BBQ at the park. If you and your dog prefer to get your walk on alone, this is still a great park. Take the paths that connect the various areas of the park for a nice walk!

Justus Park is a great park to use if you just want to spend some time in nature, since this simple park is light on amenities. What it has instead is a great view of the water and ample room to walk. Your dog has to be on leash in Justus Park, but there's so much to do, they won't even notice! Take the path that surrounds the pond, but be on the lookout: geese often call the pond home as well! Be sure to bring water with you when entering Justus Park, as there are no drinking fountains and the geese have dibs on the pond.

The Oil City Marina in the Cowell Avenue neighborhood is a great park to head to if you're looking to walk your dog, but not necessarily make a day of it. It does have amenities like picnic tables and public restrooms, but the park itself isn't large. It does have fantastic views of the water and boat ramp, however! A brisk walk along the shoreline is just the thing for taking the egde off your pup's energy. Its convenient location in a residential area that's one neighborhood from downtown makes it easy to stop by in the morning and evening, so your dog gets the exercise they need.

The Land of Laughter Playground is so much more than just a place for kids! The park's three large baseball diamonds provide plenty of space to sniff out and explore with your pup! Leash up and explore the fields when they're not in use. When they are, follow the path between the two halves of the park or loop the entire thing for a nice, long walk. There's always something to see during baseball season, when leagues and teams play often! If you do have children to entertain, the playground portion of the park is well equipped with climbing structures, swings, and slides.

Waltonian Park in the West Seneca neighborhood of Seneca is twelve minutes down the road from Oil City. This large park is out in the countryside, and makes the pawfect place to take a high energy dog to run it out. You do have to keep your pet on leash, but rest assured, it's worth it! You can choose from two paths: the Upper Two Mile Run and Lower Two Mile Run. These paths are very similar, but Lower Two Mile Run is more flat, and therefore an easier loop to complete. You can also combine them if your dog needs four miles to get tuckered out!
