South Murrieta

South Murrieta

If you're looking for a unique and refreshing experience for you and your dog, make the 22-mile drive to South Murrieta and the Country Kennels Dawg Water Park. This large, fenced-in dog park has a substantial in-ground saltwater pool where dogs can take a refreshing dip. There are beach entries, ledges, diving areas, and water spouts at the park. To prevent dirty and burned paws, the grass surface is artificial with sprinklers running to keep it cool. There are also agility and training areas at the Dawg Water Park you can rent. Bonus: If you bring two dogs here, the second one gets in for half price.

Alamosa Park

Alamosa Park

The Oceanside Dog Park is only six miles and less than a ten-minute drive from Bonsall, making it one of the closest dog parks in the area. This dog park was recently renovated, and it is maintained by the San Diego Humane Society. The Oceanside Dog Park is the only one in town, and it's open from 7 AM to 7 PM every day. Rather than being divided into sections for different sizes of dogs, it's divided into an area for active dogs, and another for slower, less active dogs. There are water fountains and turf at the Oceanside Dog Park as well.

Metropolitan Water District

Metropolitan Water District

About 33 miles from Bonsall in Temecula, California is the JC Pooch Park. This unique dog park costs $5 a day or $25 for a month of passes, and it gives you access to all three areas of the park. The first area makes up about two acres of the five-acre park, and it is a good spot to rent out for events like agility trials. The second area is 1.5 acres, including a 1,000 square-foot pond and a dog wash area. The third area is reserved for little dogs under 14 inches. You can also rent an area for dogs that need to run and play on their own. This park provides visitors with waste clean-up materials, water, electricity, and seating.

West Encinitas

West Encinitas

We all know how hot it gets in California, and it can be hard to find dog parks with enough shade structures or trees for particularly hot days. Luckily, the Viewpoint Off-Leash Dog Park in Encinitas exists! It's about a half-hour drive from Bonsall, and it is located within Viewpoint Park, which has playgrounds, and picnic facilities as well. There is plenty of shade at this park where you can sit and relax and take in the views while being protected from the sun. The dog park hours are  Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from 6-9 AM and 3-8 PM.
San Elijo Hills

San Elijo Hills

It takes about a half an hour to drive from Bonsall to San Marcos, California and the San Elijo Hills Dog Park. This fenced, off-leash park has separate areas for big and small dogs under 35 pounds, as well as plenty of paths for you to walk along. This park is built on a slope so your pup will get good and tired running up and down the hills while they play with their newfound dog friends. This park also provides water and waste removal supplies, but be advised that there isn't an abundance of shade at San Elijo Hills Dog Park.
