Dog Walking in Appleton

Appleton is a large neighborhood of the town of Grand Junction. Pups and their parents who live in the area can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities all throughout the year. If your pup needs medical attention in the Appleton area, the Amigo Animal Clinic is the place to go for routine or emergency needs. There are seven other veterinarian clinics in the surrounding area, but you will have to travel a bit further.

Your pups will enjoy spending time along the river and hiking the Colorado Riverfront Trail. The Junior Service League Park is located on the Redlands Parkway, and the path follows the Colorado River. Fido will have a snifftastic time wandering along the banks of the river smelling all the plants, and you will enjoy beautiful views and a variety of wildlife.

The Moondance RV & Campground is a popular destination featuring a nice dog run where Fido can get some off-leash exercise. The campground offers RV and tent sites, and there are clean bathrooms and shower facilities. If you are planning to go hiking in the mountains, this is a perfect spot to create your home base, and your pooch can socialize with other pups in the dog run.

While you are in the Appleton area, stop by the Belli Fiori Lavender Farm where you can sip lemonade on the patio and find unique products for your pooch. There is an amazing dry dog shampoo for pups who don’t like the bathtub, and the owners are friendly and willing to answer questions.

The Canyon View Dog Park in this Grand Junction neighborhood is located right off Interstate 70, and is the perfect place to let your pup run around when he needs to get rid of some excess energy. There are over three acres of fenced area where pups can play and chase a ball. There is a water area in the park if your pooch likes to get wet, and doggie waste bags are provided. Outside the dog park in Canyon View Park, you will find a large recreation space with a playground for the kids and restrooms. You can also spend time walking along the paved paths and getting even more exercise with Fido.

Located in the Paradise Hills neighborhood of Grand Junction, the Paradise Hills Park is a fun area just east of the center of Appleton. The park features open spaces where your pooch can roll around in the grass, and there is a basketball court where the kids can play.  Invite your friends and their pups for a horseshoe tournament and a picnic at the shelter. The kids can also enjoy the playground while you walk laps around the park with Fido and give him some exercise. You will need to bring your own doggie waste bags and dispose of them in the convenient trash cans.

If you are planning a golf vacation near Appleton and need pooch-friendly accommodations, La Quinta Inn & Suites on Crossroads Blvd is next to the Bookcliff Golf Course and Country Club. Up to three pets of any size are welcome to stay with you, and there is plenty of space around the hotel to take Fido out for some exercise. The hotel provides dog treats and the friendly staff will give your pup love and attention. Another Fido-friendly place to stay is the Grand Vista Hotel. Pomona Park is south of Appleton in grand Junction, and offers wide open spaces where your pup can play. You will need to keep Fido on a leash, but you can walk laps around the park and admire the gardens. The kids will enjoy the huge playground, and you and your pup can relax on a bench and watch them play. If you need a snack, there are several picnic tables throughout the park, and you can refill water bottles at the drinking fountain near the restrooms. On the way home from the park, stop by McAlister’s Deli on Park Drive and try out one of the amazing sandwiches. There are fifteen pup-friendly outdoor tables where you and your pup can relax and enjoy your meal.
