Known as the Peach Capital of Colorado, Palisade is located in Mesa County. Its name originates from the cliffs that are nearby and tourists love to come here for the peach orchards and wine vineyards around the area. For dog owners that are in need of emergency care, there are three veterinary clinics in Palisade, with other animal hospitals not far away in neighboring areas.
When you are in Palisade with your furry friend, there is no better treat that a day at River Bend Park! Here you have sniff-tastic trails alongside the Colorado River that your pup will love to explore, as well as scenic views you can enjoy all day long. Other great amenities in the park include barbeques, two large pavilions and there is even a disc golf course. If you like to fish, there is also a pond here.
For a bite to eat with your pooch, you can enjoy some delicious food at Caroline’s Restaurant. Enjoy Colorado Lamb Chops or New York Strip Steak at one of the dog friendly tables outdoors. If you love craft beer, you have got to check out the Palisade Brewery! There is a puptastic food menu and you can have a relaxing evening out on the patio with your pooch sitting beside you.
If you are searching for somewhere to stay when you are in Palisade with your pup, look no further than the Wine Country Inn. This pawsome place is located near the High Country Orchards and will ensure a comfortable night stay. There are dog friendly rooms available, which means your furry friend will feel right at home with you. You can bring one dog of any size, as long as you pay an additional fee. Be sure to arrange your room in advance to avoid disappointing your pooch!
All pooches love a trip to the park, so don’t forget to pay a visit to Veteran’s Memorial Park in Palisade! This is a family park that has plenty to offer everyone, including your furry friend. There are swings and a kid’s playground, as well as picnic tables torelax and enjoy a treat. For your pup, there is plenty of green grass for rolling and roaming, as well as trees offering some shade. If you get hungry, you can always head to Palisade Café 11.0. Here you can enjoy some delicious dishes while relaxing at one of the four dog friendly outdoor tables with your pooch – bone-a-petit!
Just 7.5 miles west of Palisade is this neighborhood in Grand Junction, which offers pawsome places to stay for the night when you are on your travels. The Best Western Grande River Inn & Suitesallows you to bring two furry friends of any size for only a small additional fee per night. If you are traveling in an RV, check out the RV Ranch at Grand Junction. You can park and enjoy a base for the night, with pooches welcome around the grounds on leash. In fact, there is even a dog run area here so your pup can enjoy some exercise and fun too!
If you drive 7.5 miles southwest of Palisade, you will reach the Corn Lake neighborhood in Clifton. This is a pawsome place to bring your pup for an adventure! Here you will find the Corn Lake Section of the puptastic Colorado River State Park Wildlife Area. This snifftastic trail is around three miles long, with wetland areas to explore and beautiful lakes to see. Since bikes can use this trail, it is best to keep your pooch on leash. For some fun in the sun, don’t forget to visit the Rocky Mountain Elementary Park when you are in the neighborhood. There is a looped trail here for a leisurely stroll, as well as plenty of large open spaces for playing fetch. Pups are welcome here, as long as they remain on leash.
You can go on a short road trip to Grand Junction for some fun with your furry friend. Only 11 miles southwest of Palisade, you will find the pawsome Columbine Park. This is a furiendly neighborhood spot where your pooch can investigate the green grass and play with their favorite toys in the good weather. In addition, there is a cool playground for the kids that features a sea, rocks and river bed themes. You can take your pup on a wander around the paved walking paths and enjoy a seat at one of the benches along the way. All furry friends can be top dog here, as long as they remain on their leash.
