The town of Crawford, 11 miles southeast of Hotchkiss, has a magnificent outdoor experience for you and your pup to enjoy. The Needle Rock Natural Area, on the northside of Crawford, is situated in the West Elk Mountains. It is the perfect place to spend some quality time together in nature. Take your hiking shoes and a leash for Fido, and jump on the Bureau of Land Management Trail that runs along the bottom of a natural volcanic plug, located here. This trail forms a loop, perfect for a hiking adventure. There are no restrooms or water, so plan accordingly.
West Delta

Visit the West Delta neighborhood, in the city of Delta, 20 miles west of Hotchkiss, for a pawtastic time with pup! Here you will find Confluence Park, with lots of outdoor amenities to suit any needs. If you like to fish, throw your line into Confluence Lake and try not to let the big one get away. There is also an off-leash dog park, just perfect for Fido to stretch his legs. And to keep in tip-top shape, don’t miss the park’s 6 separate fitness trails of various lengths, many which run along the scenic Gunnison River! Restrooms are on-site.

Or, enjoy the 1.5-mile, paved walking path, perfect for all pup-abilities. You and Fido can take a relaxing, on-leash stroll together in the fresh air. There are sports courts, playground facilities, and picnic pavilions provide plenty of shade to enjoy lunch.
