Crawford
The town of Crawford, 11 miles southeast of Hotchkiss, has a magnificent outdoor experience for you and your pup to enjoy. The Needle Rock Natural Area, on the northside of Crawford, is situated in the West Elk Mountains. It is the perfect place to spend some quality time together in nature. Take your hiking shoes and a leash for Fido, and jump on the Bureau of Land Management Trail that runs along the bottom of a natural volcanic plug, located here. This trail forms a loop, perfect for a hiking adventure. There are no restrooms or water, so plan accordingly.

West Delta
Visit the West Delta neighborhood, in the city of Delta, 20 miles west of Hotchkiss, for a pawtastic time with pup! Here you will find Confluence Park, with lots of outdoor amenities to suit any needs. If you like to fish, throw your line into Confluence Lake and try not to let the big one get away. There is also an off-leash dog park, just perfect for Fido to stretch his legs. And to keep in tip-top shape, don’t miss the park’s 6 separate fitness trails of various lengths, many which run along the scenic Gunnison River! Restrooms are on-site.

Roe
For a special place to get back to nature with your fur-ever friend, head to the Roe neighborhood in the town of Olathe, 31 miles southwest of Hotchkiss. Visit the dog-friendly Olathe Sweet Corn Park, designed for relaxation. There are plenty of open grassy areas for you and Fido to roam. Or why not take a blanket to throw down and enjoy a picnic lunch together? This is also the perfect place to throw in your fishing line and try to catch some dinner. There are restrooms on site as well as drinking fountains. Pups must remain on leash here.

Paonia
Head to the town of Paonia, a short 9-mile drive from Hotchkiss, to visit Paonia Town Park. These beautifully landscaped grounds are full of shade trees and open areas for you to relax with your pawtastic pup. Or stop by Apple Valley Park to enjoy sports courts, open spaces and picnic tables. And finally, Poulos Park is great to throw out a blanket on their large grassy fields. Restrooms are provided at each park. When you get hungry, enjoy a meal at The Living Farm Café, a farm-to-table restaurant, and dine at one of their 3 outdoor pet- friendly tables.
Orchard City
The Orchard City Town Park, in Orchard City, is the place to take your pawtastic friend for some outdoor, quality time together. Just 18 miles northwest of Hotchkiss, this park is dog-friendly and offers open spaces to roam with your pup on an extended leash. Or, enjoy the 1.5-mile, paved walking path, perfect for all pup-abilities. You and Fido can take a relaxing, on-leash stroll together in the fresh air. There are sports courts, playground facilities, and picnic pavilions provide plenty of shade to enjoy lunch. Restrooms and drinking fountains are on-site, but bring mutt mitts to keep this park pristine
