Shirley Hills

Less than 15 minutes by car from Bonaire, Fountain Park in nearby Warner Robins is great for maintaining an active lifestyle with your furry buddy. Fountain Park offers access to the 1-mile, out-and-back Wellston Trail, which makes for an easy and enjoyable hike through the woods and residential neighborhoods. There is plenty of parking on both ends of the trail, and you'll also find a small exercise area on the Corder Road side—pawfect for burning a few extra calories. After completing the trail, you and Fido can rest under one of the park's two picnic pavilions. Water is available at the one near the playground.

Briardale / Ravenwood

Take your best friend for a leisurely, waterside stroll at Walker's Pond Park in nearby Warner Robins! A short 15-minute drive from Bonaire, Walker's Pond Park features a 0.6-mile walking path that will take you and your pooch around a historic pond. Enjoy the ample shade and scenic views, and expect to meet gaggles of geese during your walk. Water fountains and restrooms can be found on both sides of the trail, and benches are scattered along the way so you and Fido can take a break at any time. Don't forget to bring doggie waste bags and clean up after your pooch!

Crossway

If your doggo is in need of some canine friends, bring them to Wellston Park, about 9 miles northwest of Bonaire. Spanning 37 acres, this relatively new park in neighboring Warner Robins is home to the first off-leash dog park in the city. There are two separate areas for large and small dogs, as well as toys and agility equipment to keep the puppers busy. Pick-up bags and fresh water are provided in case you forgot to bring your own. The rest of Wellston Park, which includes benches, picnic tables, and a 1-mile walking trail, also welcomes four-legged visitors on a leash.

Lenox Park

The neighboring city of Warner Robins is home to some dog-friendly restaurants where Fido is welcome to tag along while you grab a bite to eat. A 20-minute drive from Bonaire, the Barberitos Southwestern Grille and Cantina lets you build your own burrito and enjoy it on the dog-friendly patio with your pooch. More good news for Fido: furry patrons get water bowls and pets from the staff! For something cold and sweet, head to the nearby Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, where you can share an outdoor table with your best friend. Menchie's offers a myriad of flavors and toppings, including vegan, gluten-free, non-fat, and no sugar added options.

Jefferson Hills

Looking for Fido-friendly accommodations near Bonaire? Book a room at the Comfort Inn & Suites in the adjacent city of Warner Robins. Just 4 miles north of Bonaire, this hotel welcomes a maximum of four pets up to 20 pounds for an additional fee. Some rooms are even equipped with a small dog house, and there is a designated pet area at the back of the hotel where canine guests can run around and go to the bathroom. As for human guests, amenities include a fitness center, business center, seasonal outdoor pool, and free Wi-Fi. Be sure to call the hotel first before traveling as pet-friendly rooms are limited!
