Sandpoint
Head to Lakeview Park, in the Sandpoint neighborhood of Sandpoint, east of Priest River, for some fur-iendly fun with your pup! There is a beautiful, paved walking path for all pup-abilities where you can enjoy a stroll together. Sports courts, a playground, and picnic shelters are also on-site. Or try Travers Park with its large 16-acres of fun. There is a sports complex for all sports enthusiasts, a skate park and playgrounds for the kiddies. Restrooms can be found at both parks, as well as drinking fountains. Your pawtastic pup needs to remain on leash throughout each of these parks.

Dover
The city of Dover, northeast of Priest River, is the place to be for some off-leash swimming fun for your pawtastic pup! Here you will find the Balto Dog Park. Although it is not a traditional dog park, this location offers a short trail and a boardwalk which juts out into the river. Here your pup can get into the water and swim with friends. This area is not fenced, so plan accordingly and bring plenty of water. When you get hungry, head to the Dish at Dover Bay restaurant. This fantastic eatery offers dog-friendly dining outdoors with gorgeous lake views.

Laclede
The community of Laclede, east of Priest River, offers the Riley Creek Recreation Area for people and pups of all ages! There are plenty of motorized and non-motorized boating opportunities on the 1,200’ deep Lake Pend Oreille, as well as prime fishing spots on the river with the same name, both located here. You can find out-of-the-way places to swim with Fido, or let him wade along the river banks. There are miles of hiking trails for all pup-abilities, and even a separate biking trail. A campground on-site offers opportunities for an overnighter with your pawtastic friend by your side.

Downtown Newport
The Downtown neighborhood of Newport, just west of Priest River, offers two pup-tastic parks to enjoy with your fur-ever friend! The Newport City Park has lots of open grassy areas to roam and relax, a kiddie playground, a dedicated skateboard park and plenty of picnic tables. There are summer concerts here to enjoy with Fido. Or try the TJ Kelly Park that is small in size, but boasts beautiful landscaped grounds, with benches throughout to relax. Listen to the sounds of the rock waterfall on-site. Public restrooms and water are provided. This is a great place to pack a picnic lunch.

North Priest River
You will find the North Priest River neighborhood a dog-friendly place where outdoor activities abound. Head to the Priest River Wildlife Area for miles of trails to hike throughout this area. Bring your binoculars to get a glimpse of bald eagles, ospreys and bears. You are welcome to have Fido off leash here, but for his own safety, make sure he stays under voice command. Within this wildlife location, you will find the Priest River Recreation Area, which is a camping facility offering overnighters a pup-friendly location to get some shuteye. It is the perfect place to have a picnic. Bring plenty of water and keep Fido on leash.
