Park Place
Wilmington, North Carolina is about 20 minutes northeast of Bolivia. In the Park Place neighborhood, located in central Wilmington, sits the Wilmington Dog Park at Empie Park. This was the first off-leash dog park in Wilmington, and it remains one of the most popular. This two-acre park has a section for big dogs and another for small dogs. They also provide visitors with water, seating, and waste disposal items. There is also plenty of shade in the park, so if you're visiting on a hot day, you'll still be comfortable. The rest of Empie Park has several sports fields and playgrounds where the whole family can have fun!36

Pineywoods
Pineywoods is a neighborhood in central Wilmington, and it's about a half-hour drive from Bolivia. This is a peaceful and quiet neighborhood within walking distance to several amenities. One such amenity is Hugh MacRae Park. Within Hugh MacRae park is a dog park that is fully fenced in with separate small and large dog sections, and it's open every day from 8 AM to 10 PM. There are also picnic tables, shaded areas, and water spigots in the park. If you'd like to go for a leashed walk with your dog in the area, there are also trails surrounding the dog park.24

Central Kure Beach
Just over 30 miles southeast of Bolivia is the town of Kure Beach, North Carolina. In the center of the town is the Gurney Hood Dog Park at Joe Eakes Park. This dog park is located in the back of the park, behind the sports fields and courts, and it is fully fenced. There are sections for big and small dogs, and there are also plastic pools in the park during the summer months where dogs love to splash around. There are also doggy drinking fountains. If you're visiting Kure Beach between October 1st and March 31st, you can walk your dog along the Kure Beach strand after your trip to the park.12

North-Central Holden Beach
Holden Beach is a 20-minute drive from Bolivia, and in the north-central part of town sits the Holden Beach Dog Park. This dog park isn't particularly big, but it is so clean and well-maintained that it has quickly become a favorite for many dogs and owners. Holden Beach Dog Park has a small dog section and a big dog section, and the entire park is surrounded by a four-foot chain link fence. Both sides of the park also have running water, seating, and plenty of shade. After your time at the dog park, you can visit the beaches of Holden Beach with your dog for a leashed walk.
