Get some fresh ocean air and exercise with your pooch at the Bridgeview Park! Located on the Intracoastal Waterway, this park offers woofderful views of the water and the Holden Beach Bridge. Watch the boats come into the dock as you and Fido take a leisurely stroll around the area. Afterward, grab a bite to eat at the nearby Mermaid's Island Grill, which is a 5-minute walk from the park. This waterfront eatery serves classic coastal dishes that you can dig into at their dog-friendly, outdoor dining area. Mermaid's Island Grill is located on the beach, so Fido can enjoy the view while you enjoy your food.

Central Holden Beach

Head to the middle of the island and you'll find a few small parks where Fido can stretch his legs. One of these is Pocket Park, which can be easy to miss if you're not looking for it. This adorable little spot features a gravel walking path, a viewing deck, benches, and hundreds of plants. Enjoy the peace and quiet as you and Fido look over the marsh at Pocket Park. A few minutes away is the Butterfly Garden, located next to the fire station. A favorite among Holden Beach visitors, this beautiful garden is home to several butterfly-friendly plants, butterfly houses, and benches.

West Holden Beach

Situated along the Intracoastal Waterway, Sailfish Street Park is pawfect for taking quiet walks in the sand with your four-legged best friend. This minimally developed park offers a beach, an open grassy area, benches, picnic tables, and a fishing pier. Although you might see some wildlife such as porpoises swimming in the Intracoastal Waterway, don't expect to find a lot of activity here. Sailfish Street Park is a serene spot for looking out onto the water and watching the world go by; stop by here whenever you'd like to just hang out with your pooch or relax after a long day.

Sandy Shoals

The Ocean Aire Travel Park is a pet-friendly RV campground in nearby Supply. Just less than 10 minutes from Holden Beach, Ocean Aire offers full hook-ups, a modern bathhouse, and a laundry facility. Activities such as basketball, swimming, corn hole, and games for kids are also available. Fido is allowed on the site as long as he stays on a leash and is cleaned up after. If you feel like eating out, The Cove Restaurant is right across the street from Ocean Aire. This farm-to-table eatery has a patio where you can share an outdoor table with your pup. Vegetarian options are available.

Rourk Woods

Is Fido looking to expand his social circle? Then head out 15 miles northwest of Holden Beach to the Shallotte Dog Park in nearby Shallotte. With two separate sections for large and small canines, this off-leash dog park within the Shallotte Township District Park is a furrific place for your pup to make new friends and run around to his heart's content. There are also cleanup and water stations to keep Fido fresh and hydrated. After tiring Fido out at the Shallotte Dog Park, head to Pelican's SnoBalls for a delicious cold treat. Take your pick from over 100 flavors, then share your snowball with your pooch at one of the outdoor tables.
