This neighborhood is home to Calabash’s one dog-friendly park, Calabash Community Park. This one-acre park welcomes dogs on-leash, and it has a big field where you can walk your dog. The park also has scenic picnic shelters where you can relax or have a snack with your pup. Bring some water and doggy bags, and have a good time exploring this neighborhood park. After the park, continue your fun day out with lunch at Calabash Seafood Hut. Sit at one of their three dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy locally-caught seafood dishes. If you’re not a seafood fan, Calabash Seafood Hut also offers a land lovers menu complete with BBQ plates, ribeye steaks, and chicken dinners.

Citizens Circle
If you’re looking for a pawesome off-leash area for your furry best friend, head to Waggin’ Tails Dog Park. Located about 9.5 miles from Calabash, this park has two separate fenced areas: one for large dogs and one for small dogs that weigh less than 25 pounds. There are plenty of trees to keep the park shady and cool on summer days, and there are lots of benches for owners to sit on while their dogs play. If you or your pup get thirsty, dog and human water fountains are available. Bring your pup a tennis ball or a toy to play with, and have a great time at this off-leash park!

Belle Grove Plantation
Belle Grove Plantation is home to a beautiful park that’s perfect for on-leash walks with your dog: McLean Park. This park is 10 miles from Calabash, and it has a paved half-mile trail that goes around a two-acre lake. There are benches around the lake, and there’s also a lovely gazebo where you can sit and enjoy the view with your dog. If you’re hungry after the park, check out Burger Fi. This casual restaurant allows dogs at their outdoor table, and they’ll bring your dog a bowl of ice-cold water. While your dog sips on their water, you can enjoy customizable burgers, milkshakes, and much more.

If you’re searching for another puptastic off-leash area, check out Shallotte Dog Park. This dog park is 12 miles from Calabash, and it has separate areas for large and small dogs to play in. Both areas are fenced to keep your pup safe while they’re playing, and there are picnic tables for owners to sit at while their dogs play. If your dog gets messy, the park has a clean-up station. Water is also available for your pup in the dog park. If you want to get a cool treat after the dog park, head to Pelican’s SnoBalls. This eatery has four dog-friendly tables, and they serve over 100 flavors of shaved ice.

Scotch Bonnet Drive
This Holden Beach neighborhood is home to the pawsitively amazing Holden Beach Dog Park. This dog park is 20 miles from Calabash, and it offers separate areas for large and small dogs. Both areas have big grassy fields where your pup can play, and doggy waste bags and water are also available in the park. Your pup will always have a good time playing in this dog park! If all that playing makes you hungry, head to Mermaid’s Island Grill. Grab one of their numerous dog-friendly outdoor tables and dine on delicious seafood dishes, like freshly-caught fried shrimp, fried flounder, and seafood chowder.
