“A walk a day keeps the vet away.”
I am an animal lover and have a dog and cat of my own. I enjoy all kinds of dogs and love to go on long walks with my own. I’ve grown up with dogs most of my life. I had a cocker spaniel for 15 years and have had my current dog for almost 9. I don’t think I could ever not have an animal in the house. Built in best friend.

Myrtle Beach is located on the East Coast of South Carolina, and has long been known as a popular vacation destination. This coastal town sits in the center of a large stretch of beach known as Grand Strands in South Carolina which welcomes your dog to get a little sandy. Myrtle Beach is also home to 18 different veterinarians that your dog can see for a checkup.
Though Myrtle Beach is known for its beaches, it does offer some amazing parks that you and Fido can take a walk in. Futrell Park is close to the coast
and features a pond, while Horry County Bike and
Run Park is perfect for a walk. If your dog is looking to escape the beach, then Yow Park is for him since it takes you out of the beach and places you into a beautiful park filled with lush trees and plants. Your dog will think he is roaming a forest in this pawsome getaway!
Since Myrtle Beach is a tourist town, there is a plethora of great hotels that the two of you can stay at together between adventures. Check into Patricia Grand Resort Hotel, La Quinta Inn and Suites Myrtle Beach, or Doubletree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront for some great options on places to stay that allow your dog to stay with you.
Myrtle Beach State Park is a dogtastic take to place Fido for some beach fun. Your dog needs to remain on-leash while visiting the park, but will be too excited about splashing in the water to care. If your dog wants to run around off-leash, then across the street from the beach is Barc Parc South, a pawsome dog park jut waiting for your pup. The dog park has its own lake for the dogs to swim in, plus plenty of shade for dogs and their owners. There is a separate area for smaller dogs if they don’t want to play with big dogs, and a bathroom for owners.
Withers Heights is home to the pawtastic Barc Parc North, a great dog park to let your pup run around off-leash in. The park is separated into two sections, one for large dogs and one for smaller dogs, and is composed mainly of grass which your dog will love for fetch. The park also features water fountains, plenty of shade, and benches. After a great day out at the dog park, take your dog to one of the many dog-friendly restaurants that surround Barc Parc North. Check out favorites like Sharkey’s Beach Bar, Art Burger Sushi Bar, or Clucky’s Chicken and Fish, all of which have outdoor patios that welcome your dog.
Barefoot Landing has a 27-acre lake that is perfect for exploring and relaxing with your dog. The area offers fishing, shopping, dining, and entertainment for you and your pup to enjoy together. While visiting, be sure to stop by Bone Appetit Pet Bakery and pick up some tasty fresh home-made treats for your dog to enjoy. The two of you can also relax and grab a bite to eat at the dog-friendly restaurants that Barefoot Landing has. Locals love Wild Wing Café which features a dog-friendly deck that overlooks the lake. Waiters even bring water and dog biscuits to your pooch to make him feel more welcome.
Arcadian Shores is home to a plethora of dog-friendly restaurants that you and Fido can stop in at and grab a bite to eat together. Spanky’s Pub House is a cozy bar and grill that serves classic pub style food with a sports bar atmosphere. Amici’s Brick Oven and Italian Bistro is a great place to relax and get some traditional Italian food with Fido. The Office Italian Pub serves tasty Italian and American dishes. All of these restaurants have dog-friendly patios.
The McLean Park is a great spot to take your dog for a fun day out to exercise and relax with you. When visiting McLean Park, your dog needs to stay on leash, but will be so excited by all the sociable dogs, he won't even notice! The park is filled with trees to help provide shade, plenty of benches to relax on, and a pond in the middle of the park. The park even offers a great walking trail that circles the park and is about ½ mile long. Make sure to bring water for your dog to stay hydrated and clean-up bags.
