Looking for a beachfront hotel that allows furry guests? Then the Islander Inn is the place to book. All rooms come with free Wi-Fi, mini refrigerators, microwaves, coffee/tea makers, and flat-screen TVs for your comfort, while oceanfront rooms also have a private balcony from which Fido can look out onto the beach. Be sure to call the hotel beforehand as pet-friendly rooms are limited! Less than half a mile from the Islander Inn are two dog-friendly eateries where you can grab a bite with Fido in tow. Head to Pelican's Perch for some pub grub, or Drift Coffee and Kitchen for gourmet coffee and light fare with vegetarian options.

Ocean Ridge Plantation

Keep your pup happy and healthy by taking him for daily walks. Go for a leashed stroll at the Ocean Isle Beach Park, where paved walkways and grassy areas give Fido a lot to sniff and explore. This spacious county park also houses tennis courts, playgrounds, a multi-use field, and an amphitheater, so you'll likely catch a game or event while you're there. And if you and Fido need to take a pawse from walking around, there's a pretty wooden shelter with picnic tables where you can sit and have a snack. Don't forget to bring doggie waste bags for cleaning up after your pooch, too.

Seaside Station

If strolling among oak trees on brick walkways sounds like an excellent way to spend a beautiful afternoon with Fido, head to the Sunset Beach Town Park in neighboring Sunset Beach. Located 15 minutes west of Ocean Isle Beach, this 5-acre waterfront park also houses a veteran's memorial, a fishing pier, and swings and benches overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. Visitors say the there's usually a breeze in the area, so pick a shady spot by the water and enjoy the wind and puptastic views with your best friend. If you're feeling hungry, cross the street to Mavericks Java to get a sandwich or pastry, which you can tuck into at one of their outdoor picnic tables.

Rourk Woods

Is your pooch looking for other canines to play with? He'll find them at the Shallotte Dog Park in the nearby town of Shallotte, so hop into the car with Fido and head out 15 minutes north of Ocean Isle Beach. Located within the Shallotte Township District Park, this fenced-in, off-leash dog park is a furrific place to let Fido make new friends and stretch his legs. There are separate sections for large and small dogs, with shade trees and cleanup and water stations in each area. Once your pup is done socializing, walk a few minutes to Pelican's SnoBalls and share a cold treat with your furry buddy at one of their dog-friendly outdoor tables.

Rivers Edge

The Mulberry Street Park in nearby Shallotte is a fairly quiet spot where you can take your pup for a leisurely, leashed walk. About 9 miles west of Ocean Isle Beach, this 10-acre park features an amphitheater, playground, pavilion, community garden, and walking trails. There are also ample snifftastic, grassy areas that any canine will enjoy. During the summer, the Mulberry Street Park hosts a weekly farmers market, so you can also pick up some local produce and handcrafted goods while you're there. As always, keep your pupper on a leash and bring pick-up bags so that everyone can have a good time at the park.
