Located about 12 miles from Gretna, the Two Rivers State Recreation Area in Waterloo is a furrific place to have some outdoor fun with your furry buddy and the rest of the family. Nestled on the banks of the Platte River, this 622-acre area contains several sandpit lakes that total 320 acres of water, providing various opportunities for fishing, swimming, and non-powered boating. Here you'll also find multiple camping areas with over 200 padded sites, hiking and biking trails, and picnic areas. You can even stay in one of the 10 authentic, retired Union Pacific cabooses that have been refurbished for park lodging for a pawsome and unique experience.

Go for a hike on the trails, dig into a packed lunch at one of the many picnic areas, and let Fido romp off-leash at the dog exercise area. Do keep a close eye on your pooch at the off-leash area as it is only fenced on one side. After a fun day in nature, check into the nearby, pup-friendly Motel 6 to get a good night's sleep.

Pacific Meadows Park in nearby Omaha is a puptastic spot to spend a lovely afternoon with your canine companion. Located next to railroad tracks, this 21-acre urban park features an open grassy field, paved paths, and athletic courts. Fido is welcome to hang out at Pacific Meadows Park as long as he stays leashed. From here, you can access the 16-mile West Papio Trail, which connects Omaha to Bellevue. Following the route of a historic canal towpath, the West Papio Trail travels through open fields, city parks, and residential neighborhoods. Don't forget to bring water for both you and your pup, as well as doggie waste bags.

Located within the Walnut Creek Lake and Recreation Area, this off-leash dog park is set in a natural environment with a small lake and walking trails. There are also benches for the dog parents to sit on and an area for cleaning up your pup before you leave near the entrance. Once Fido's all nice and tired, drive 10 minutes to SPIN!
