It's located around 8 miles away from La Vista, in Omaha's Ford Birthsite neighborhood, making it one of the closest dog parks. The park provides a small dog area and a large dog area for the maximum safety of your pup. There are several trees inside the dog areas that make this park a pleasant place to be in the heat. The park has a double-fenced entry system, and provides water and waste baggies. Just bring plenty of energy to play and you're all set for a furrific day at the dog park!

Hefflinger Dog Park is another park that you should consider when your pup wants some off-leash playtime. This park is located in Northwest Omaha, approximately 11 miles away from La Vista. This fenced park features two separate areas: one for small dogs and the other for large dogs. The park is known to get muddy if the weather is bad, so bringing a towel is a good idea. The park has a double-gated entry system to prevent dogs from getting a little too adventurous. Waste bags are provided, but the water fountain is only switched on in the summer months, so bring your own if visiting during the off-season.

East Bellevue

Around 9 miles east of La Vista, in East Bellevue, you'll find a hidden jewell -- Jewell Dog Park, that is! This is the perfect place if you want to take your dog for a little off-leash fun. The park includes separate areas for small and large dogs to keep conflict to a minimum. If you decide to visit this park, make sure you bring some water for your pooch because the park doesn't provide any. There is no shade in this park either, so you'll want to avoid visiting during the hottest parts of the day, especially in the summer.

Walnut Creek Park

Walnut Creek Park

Walnut Creek Park Off-Leash Area is around 6.5 miles south of La Vista and is located within the main park of the same name This off-leash area is so perfect for those hot summer days, especially if your pup loves swimming! Your canine companion can make a splash in the pond here. The park is fenced from three sides, so if you have a runner, this park might not be the best place to visit. Large trees keep the place shaded, and there are plenty of benches for the human visitors. Poop bags are provided in the park, but you should bring your own drinking water.

Chalco

Chalco

Chalco Hills Recreation Area is about 9 miles west of La Vista, in Chalco. Leashed dog are welcome to explore this area, or they can shed the leash and run wild with some new furry friends in the designated off-leash area. The dog park is only fenced on one side, so be sure your pup responds well to voice commands. There are a lot of trails outside of the designated off-leash area that you can explore, but your pup has to be on-leash at all times. You'll find a lot of wildlife here, as well as hiking trails, fishing, kayaking and a lot of other activities, which makes it a wonderful place to bring the whole family!
