Holmdel

Holmdel

The Holmdel neighborhood lies at the heart of Holmdel, and there is always plenty going on here. There are a couple of parks in the neighborhood worth checking out, such as the historic Ackerson Park, with its sports facilities, playground and open grassy fields. Telegraph Hill Park is not too far away, and this neighborhood park is home to a couple of fields, a wide paved walking path that loops its way around the fields, and dense woodland that surrounds the walking path. When visiting this park, don't forget to stop off at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which sits just across the road from the park.

If your pooch enjoys long walks, then you definitely need to spend some time in the Centerville neighborhood. This is where the 11 acre Allocco Park is located, which is known for being one of the most scenic parks in Holmdel. The Waackaack Creek runs along one side of the park, providing a whole new habitat, meaning that the park is able to host quite a few botanical species, including Willow Oak, Mountain Laurel and Sweet Gum. Union Ave

Union Ave

At the heart of Hazlet is the Union Ave neighborhood, which is less than a mile away from Holmdel. Although this is quite a busy area, the spacious Veterans Park is the pawfect place to go to escape urban life and surround yourself with greenery. Other than areas for sports facilities, the playground and picnic tables, the rest of the park is heavily forested, meaning that there will always be new and exciting smells to keep Fido's tail wagging. There are several dirt trails to take the two of you through the park, just be sure to bring a lead, doggie bags and drinking water with you.

Lincroft

Lincroft

The small town of Lincroft is about one and a half miles from Holmdel, and is the place to go if you need to tire your pup out. For your pooch, the highlight of Lincroft will be Thomson Park, which stretches out for 667 acres. Not only is this majestic park home to sports fields, historic buildings, an arts center, a fishing lake, playgrounds and sheltered picnic areas, but it also contains a 1.25 acre off-leash area for dogs. The runs are fully fenced, enabling your dog to frolic about safely, with separate areas for small and large dogs. While water is provided for dogs at the gate, you will need to bring your own doggie bags with you.
