The Downtown area of Port Monmouth sits right along the Sandy Hook Bay and is just over six miles from Keansburg. This pupular area is one that your sand-loving, water-fanatic dog will love to visit because it’s the home of Bayshore Waterfront Park. The public park welcomes dogs on their leashes to join their owners as they stroll along the beach, through grassy open areas, and even in the water. Your pooch would probably also love to join you on the Henry Hudson Trail. This multi-use trail is perfect for taking a stroll with your beloved pooch as you walk along streams and beautiful wooded areas.

Bay Ave

A little under nine miles away from Keansburg is the Bay Ave area of Highlands, NJ. This spot is where you’ll find the Sandy Hook/Gateway National Park, a paw-friendly park and beach area that welcomes on-leash dogs to explore. Your dog is allowed on the beaches and in the water if you clean up after him. After you’ve gotten your fun and exercise in with Spot, you can both head to the nearby Bahrs Landing, a restaurant and marina that serves up delicious seafood dishes. You and your dog can pull up a seat on the outdoor patio that sits right on the water for some spectacular views.

North Red Bank

Around 8.4 miles from Keansburg is the North Red Bank area of Red Bank. This is THE place to go with your dog if you’re looking for some dog-friendly dining near Keansburg! You’ll have plenty of options to choose from, like getting a taste of France at Antoinette Boulangerie, which offers pastries, bread, custom cakes, and more, and will make you feel like you just stepped into a Parisian bakery. Or, keep things more casual with a trip to Earth Pizza, a casual eatery with organic ingredients that make up some delicious pizza options. Both spots (and several others in the neighborhood) have outdoor seating that welcomes dogs.

Newman Springs Rd

The Newman Springs Rd area of Lincroft is one of the closest spots in which you’ll find a park made just for your doggie to play off her leash. This area is 8.8 miles from Keansburg, and you’ll find Thompson Dog Park located inside Thompson Park. The off-leash area offers sections for separate small and large dogs. You can also take your leashed dog around Thompson Park to check out the lake and several hiking trails that loop the grounds. The park also has picnic areas that are pawfect for a relaxing lunch and some parts that are rich in Lincroft history to explore.

East Freehold

East Freehold is about 22 miles from Keansburg, so it’s a bit farther to travel compared to other places, but it’s also a great place to stop for a bite to eat if you’re headed down south. This area has several dog-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating to enjoy a meal with your pooch. Aarzu Modern Indian Bistro is one of them, offering authentic Indian cuisine and vegetarian options with a modern atmosphere.
