Ridgewood is located nine miles south of Mahwah. Ridgewood Bark Park is a gathering place for pups that need some leash-free time for exercise and play. Pups have fun here in this pawesome park! The dog park is double-gated for safe entry into this pup playground. Two sections serve the needs of small and large dogs. Both are fully fenced for off-leash socialization. The ground is a mixture of grass, dirt, and a gray mulch, an absolute cornucopia for noses needing to sniff! Pieces of agility equipment add to the amenities to enjoy here. Mature trees give shade to all the visitors to the park.

Marshall Hill

West Milford is located seventeen miles west of Mahwah. A trip out to West Milford can kill two birds with one stone, as the saying goes. Pequannock Feed & Supply store sells all kinds of dog food and treats, which makes it a must-visit. In addition, the store has a dog park in the back that is free and open to all. The dog park is a one-acre tract that's fully fenced for dogs to get off the leash and burn some energy. The property is divided into a large and small dog section. Several pieces of agility equipment add to the interest of the place. Water is available on-site. The dog park is free, but donations are appreciated.

Leonia Downtown

Leonia is located twenty miles south of Mahwah. Overpeck Park Dog Run is a spacious, fenced park with plenty of room to play in. This dog park has two sections. One section is fenced separately for small dogs. The ground is mostly grass with an occasional patch of dirt. Dogs can practice on or try the pieces of agility equipment. Human companions can relax on benches under the shade of mature trees. No water is immediately available on-site. The main park has 811 acres of recreational space with five miles of walking trails. A 1.25-mile path in the shape of a figure eight takes a hiker on a walk alk.ong the lake. A leash is required in the main park.

Riverside Avenue East

Lyndhurst is located twenty-three miles south of Mahwah. Riverside Dog Park makes the trip woofwhile! This county park has a large plot of fully fenced space for a pup to explore off-leash. The dog park has a separately fenced section just for small dogs. The surface of the park is a gray mulch. This dog park is a great spot to visit if a heavy rain makes your usual grassy spots muddy. Drinking water and bowls are supplied by the dog park. Pet parents appreciate the numerous shaded benches. After a romp in the dog park, a walk along the Passaic River gives the human companion some exercise before heading home.

Bellevue Ave

Montclair is located twenty-four miles from Mahwah. Brookdale Dog Park draws people with doggos from all over the Garden State and beyond! The dog park offers dogs two separately fenced enclosures for leash-free running and socializing with other canine buddies. The surface consists of a fine gravel mulch so pups don't leave the dog park too dirty (most of the time). A water hose stands ready for pups who get a little messy while playing. The park includes several pieces of agility equipment for some training or just trying out. People may watch their pups from benches situated under the expansive green shade trees.
