Ringwood
At the heart of Ringwood lies the Ringwood neighborhood, where your pooch will really be able to have a good run. The Ringwood Dog Park is the place to go, and this is located right next to the public library. The park is fully fenced-off, with separate sections for smaller and larger dogs, complete with both doggie and human water fountains in each. If your pooch would prefer a more rural walk, the Ringwood State Park is in this neighborhood. With 4,444 acres to explore, including a large lake, landscaped gardens, and miles of walking trails, you and your pup could easily spend the entire day here.

Wanaque Borough
The Wanaque Borough neighborhood in Wanaque is right next to Ringwood, and is home to a few parks that your pooch will love. The largest is Addis Park, where you will find two softball fields, a soccer field, and a scenic walking trail that will lead you to Wanaque School. Martini Field and Skyline Field are also worth exploring, with both of these parks being home to sports facilities, a play area and a few picnic benches. While dogs are welcome to use all of these parks, they do need to be kept on a lead at all times, and owners must always clean up after them.

West Milford Town Center
About two miles from Ringwood is the Town Center of West Milford, which provides everything you need for a fun-filled day out with your pooch. Begin at the West Milford Dog Park, which is fully fenced off and boasts spacious, separate runs for small and large dogs. Each run has a small canopy for shade on hot days, as well as a number of obstacles that the dogs can play on, and plenty of benches for owners to sit and watch. While doggie bags and dog bowls are provided at the park, you will still need to bring your own water for Fido.

Hewitt Town Center
About three miles from Ringwood is the Town Center of Hewitt, which offers up a couple of spacious green areas for your pooch to play in. The San Cap Recreation Area, which is also known as the Highlands Preserve, stretches out for 224 acres, and contains a few sports fields, a playground, and a network of walking trails that measure around five miles in total. This neighborhood also provides access to the Abram S. Hewitt State Forest, where you will find 2001 acres of greenery to explore. There are a variety of hiking trails to choose from here, taking you through everything from upland swamps to rocky outcrops to dense forests.

Forest Knolls
Three miles from Ringwood, just across the border in Greenwood, New York, is the neighborhood of Forest Knolls. Although this is a very small neighborhood, it provides access to the Sterling Forest State Park, which extends out for an impressive 19,132 acres. The park boasts a variety of different habitats, making it popular with everything from rare invertebrates to black bears and foxes, as well as a spectacular range of plants. There are a couple of recreational activities available here, such as fishing, hunting and showshoeing, but the most popular is hiking, with over 60 miles of trails for you and your pooch to walk.
