“Dog walking is no job - it's a passion!”
Hi there! I have been walking dogs in Hoboken, NJ for 4 years now, which I absolutely love! I have had an endearing love for dogs since 2001 when my parents finally gave into the many pleas of my two younger brothers and I to get us a dog. We were introduced to Tiki, a magnificent Black Labrador, who became the sister we never had.

Dog Walking in Far Rockaway
Far Rockaway is a neighborhood in the borough of Queens. This small community is part of what is commonly referred to as The Rockaways, or a series of neighborhoods on the Rockaway Peninsula. Due to its pawsome beach, Far Rockaway was once a thriving vacation destination for those in the surrounding boroughs. Today, the Beach Bungalows Historic District sits as a reminder of the community’s resort heyday.
O’Donahue Park is a green space adjacent to the beach on the east side of the neighborhood. Not only does it have a ball field, splash pad, skate park, and picnic facilities, it also has a large green space that’s perfect for walking your pup. Your canine companion can enjoy some fresh air and sunshine as she trots along the grassy field. Since this is a pup-ular community hang out, she’ll have plenty of opportunity to practice her socialization manners.
The Rockaway Beach Boardwalk runs parallel to the famed
Rockaway Beach. Although pups aren’t allowed to swim or frolic on the beach,
they are able to walk along the boardwalk and on the sand between October 1 and
May 1.
With beautiful ocean views, a pupperific boardwalk, and two veterinary clinics, it’s no wonder dogs love living in Far Rockaway!
Best Dog Neighborhoods in Far Rockaway
Bayswater
Bayswater
Need a new place to walk your pooch? Head over to this nearby Queens neighborhood to Bayswater Park. This 40 acre community park sits right on the shore and looks out into Jamaica Bay. Two legged park visitors can use the sport courts, ball fields, playground, or splash pad. Four legged visitors will be more interested in the open grassy fields and short trails. Oh, and the off leash area! Your pup can run around sans leash in designated areas of the park. Just make sure she doesn’t chase the squirrels and is under voice command. This park will definitely make her tail wag!
Edgemere
Edgemere
If your furry BFF is begging for a walk, grab her leash and head over to the Rockaway Community Park. It’s just minutes away in the Edgemere neighborhood of Queens. There’s a traditional park with sport courts and a playground, and a beautiful natural area that juts out into Jamaica Bay. Follow the trails that lead into the marshy peninsula. Your pup’s ears will perk up to the sounds of all the birds that call this place home. She’ll also have plenty to sniff as she explores the area. This park has a designated off leash area too. She can romp around freely, as long as she stays under voice control.
Hammels
Hammels
The Freeway Dog Park is a furrific spot for canines that need to let loose. Don’t be fooled by the name, this park in the Hammels neighborhood of Queens is not on the freeway! It’s completely fenced in and safe. Local pups love living close to one of the largest dog parks in the area. There is more than enough room for your dog to scamper around or play a game of chase with his playmates. Sit back and relax on one of the benches as your pal tuckers himself out. Water is available, so make sure he takes a drink break every once in a while.
Bay Park
Bay Park
If your pooch is bursting with energy, then it’s time for a trip to the Bay Park Dog Park. Located in East Rockaway, this off leash run is situated inside Bay Park. Your pup will have plenty of room to get rid of her wiggles. Bring a ball for a game of fetch, or just let her sniff around solo. Since there are separate areas for large and small dogs, petite pups can play at their own pace. Water is available, so don’t let your pup get thirsty. Keep in mind, dogs are not allowed to go in the main area of Bay Park.
Broad Channel
Broad Channel
This neighborhood of Queens is located on the only inhabited island in Jamaica Bay. It’s also home to Sunset Cove Park. Leash up your pup and head over to this green space for a mellow afternoon stroll or a brisk walk to get his blood flowing. He’ll enjoy scenic views of the bay while feeling the warm sun on his back. Bring a blanket and a picnic, and hang out for a couple hours. For a change of scenery, pop over to Broad Channel American Park. Wander around the natural areas so your pup can get a healthy dose of nature. Be sure to bring water and clean up bags.
