In Knox, you will find lots of outdoor activities that you can enjoy with the family, including your beloved pup! The Hudson and Nancy Winn Preserve has a sniff-tastic loop trail, which is three miles long and suitable for people of all hiking abilities. All dogs are welcome here, as long as they remain on leash. For a pleasant stroll with your pup, be sure to visit Knox Town Park. This has walking paths through the wetlands and fields that your dog will love to explore. In addition, the Margaret Burke Wildlife Management Area with its 245 acres of natural beauty and hiking trails is sure to have your dog’s tail wagging all day!

East Berne
Located only 7.5 miles away from Knox, East Berne is a puptown you don’t want to miss! If your dog likes to ruff it, be sure to head to Cole Hill State Forest. With 815 acres of beautiful trees and land to explore, you can spend a day out on the hiking trails with your pup. Since there is wildlife and hunting is allowed here, it is best to keep your dog on leash. You can also find Partridge Run Wildlife Management Area in East Berne. This has a 6.6. mile sniff-tastic loop trail that you and your furry friend can enjoy together and get back to nature. With wildlife living here, it is best to keep your dog on leash.

New Salem
New Salem is located in Voorheesvile, which is only six miles away from Knox. Here you can find the beautiful John Boyd Thacher State Park. With limestone cliffs, expansive woodlands and stunning scenic views of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and Green Mountains, this is the perfect place for you and your pup to enjoy together. With over 25 miles of sniff-tastic trails and hiking routes to go on an adventure with your dog, you are spoilt for choice. All pups are welcome here, as long as they remain on their leash. This neighborhood in Albany is around 16 miles from Knox, but this pup paradise will make a great day out! Here you will have the choice of two puptastic dog parks; Hartman Road Dog Park and Normanskill Farm Dog Park. At Hartman Road Dog Park, your furry friend can roam free in the off-leash area, which also has a gazebo and benches for you to relax and watch your dog have fun. There are waste bags available, in case you furgot. Normanskill Farm Dog Park provides the perfect setting for your dog to run and exercise, as well as socialize and make new furry friends.
Pine Hills
Albany is around 20 miles from Knox, but with all the delicious and dog friendly places to eat, the journey is worth it! Food lovers will appreciate a trip to Capital Q Smokehouse for some good ol’ American grub. From ribs to brisket, there’s something for everybody here. Plus, with two outdoor picnic tables, you can bring your pup along too! If you prefer Asian food, don’t miss Sake Café, which has six dog friendly outdoor tables, or try tasty sea food at the outdoor tables in Albany Ale & Oyster. Restaurant Navona is also great for fresh and local ingredients, as well as four outdoor tables where your furry friend can join you for lunch.
