Amsterdam
Amsterdam might be small compared to other NY cities, but that doesn't mean you and your buddy are bound to be bored! Amsterdam sits along the Mohawk River, right in the heart of the city. In this neighborhood, you can dine out with your dog at Fresh Basil, which features Italian dishes and some delicious varieties of pizza. Or, try Parillo’s Armory Grill with more Italian favorites and outdoor tables for you and your pooch. This neighborhood is also where part of the Canalway Trail runs. Here, you can walk along the hiking paths with your leashed pup and enjoy the water views.

Scotia
It will take you a little over 20 minutes to drive from Amsterdam to Schenectady, NY. The Scotia neighborhood is just a little further down the Mohawk River from Amsterdam and is a popular place with a casino, colleges, parks, and more. Your pup will probably go mutts for Puzzles Bakery & Café, which has outdoor paw-friendly tables and serves incredible sandwiches, baked goods, and more. Wolff’s Biergarten is an interesting choice for those craving all things German, from beer and sports to German sausages. Join your pup for a meal at an outdoor table. The area also has a few pet-friendly hotels if you’re just visiting and need a place to stay.

The Village Center of Ballston Spa, NY is about 19 miles from Amsterdam. Eastline Romp and Play is not only a fun name for a dog park, but it’s also a can’t-miss place offering bunches of outdoor fun for your pooch. The park does require a membership, but once you have it, you can run with your dog in the fenced park and let him socialize with some new friends any day of the week. The area also has plenty of dog-friendly eateries, like Henry’s Tavern, which offers casual dining favorites that include pizza, seafood, burgers, and more. Or, coffee lovers can head to Coffee Planet and enjoy a cup of java at an outdoor table.

Guilderland is a town in New York without designated neighborhoods that is about 26 miles away from Amsterdam. The Town of Guilderland Dog Park is a large, fenced-in park that gives your pooch plenty of room to roam.
