Central Tappan

There is a network of former railway lines that have been converted into trails that span across America, and Tappan is home to its very own portion of the trail known as the Joseph B. Clarke Rail Trail. This 2.8-mile trail is ideal for biking, walking, roller-skating, cross-country skiing, and of course, it's perfect for exploring with your dog! The trail has a few different surfaces, including asphalt, dirt, stone, and gravel, and you'll probably come across a lot of other friendly dogs and their humans along the way!

Upper

Just 23 miles from Tappan is the Brookdale Dog Park in Montclair, New Jersey. This spectacular dog park is fully decked-out in everything you and your dog could ever need or want in a doggie playground. At 1.2 acres, there is plenty of room for everyone at the Brookdale Dog Park, and it has separate sections for big and small dogs along with a time-out area. If your dog likes to jump fences, you'll be glad to know this dog park has six-foot fences for the safety of all dogs. There is also agility equipment, running water, doggy waste clean-up stations, and gravel mulch.

Upper West Side

A 34-minute drive will get you from Tappan to Upper West Side, New York City, and the West 72nd Street Dog Run. This dog park is a little piece of paradise in a busy city, and it's perfect for exercising and socializing your dog. The West 72nd Street Dog Run has separate sections for big and small dogs, and there is plenty of seating to make sure humans enjoy their visit, too. This park was created by and is maintained by volunteers who live in the area and take great pride in keeping the park clean and enjoyable for everyone.

South Pelham

A 40-minute drive is nothing when it means you and your dog get to visit a super-fun dog run in the Bronx, New York! The Pelham Bay Park Dog Run was one of the first dog parks to be built by the NYC Parks Department, and it has become a community hub for dogs and their owners to get out and meet new friends. Near the park is Orchard Beach which is the only public beach in the Bronx, and from October to May, dogs are welcome to stroll along the boardwalk with you and take in all the activity.

Bonnie Crest

Bonnie Crest is a beautiful residential neighborhood in New Rochelle, New York and it's just over a half-hour drive from Tappan! Bonnie Crest has its own dog park, the Paws Place Ward Acres Dog Park. This large dog park consists of almost three acres of prime running space for Rover, and it has a separate section (1/3 of an acre) for small dogs to play safely with dogs of similar sizes. You'll need to buy a permit to visit this park, but both you and your pup will be glad you did because there is plenty of fun to be had at Paws Place!
