“Animals are my world”
I’m 28 and a dog mom to 3 wonderfully, crazy dogs. I’ve loved dogs and all animals for as long as I can possibly remember. I’ve been volunteering for rescues and shelters for over 7 years so I have experience with all sorts of dogs and whatever issues/ understanding they may need. Working with dogs is more than a job to me, it’s a passion. I will love and care for your dog the way you do while you’re not around.

Poteau has other furrific amenities, too! There are five veterinary clinics to help keep your pet healthy, and a handful of fur-iendly hotels, including the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Poteau.
Check out one of Poteau’s most pleasant parks in the N Broadway St/ Central St neighborhood! You and your leashed pup will love visiting Bill J. Barber Park and playing in its wide open grassy areas. This large park is situated next to the tree-lined Town Creek, so there’s lots of things for your furry friend to see and sniff down by the water. The rest of the park is dotted with big, shady trees where you and your pup can relax after a few laps on the looped walking path that lines the park’s perimeter. Bring lunch and chow down with your dog at your side while at one of the covered picnic tables! The park also has a playground and a basketball court.
Two furrific parks await you and your leashed pup in Poteau’s City Center neighborhood! Located just behind Carl Albert State College, Twyman Park is a woofderful community green space where you and your dog will love soaking up some rays as you meander around the park’s quiet pond. You and your furry pal can take a walk on the paved walking trail, play in the grass or relax at one of the picnic tables under the mature trees. Twyman Park also has tennis courts and a playground. Dunbar Park is another smaller, but still pawsome neighborhood park with lots of grass, a playground and a covered table with a barbecue grill.
If you and your pup love a good hike, head to the Central Wister neighborhood, about eight miles from Poteau. This part of the neighboring town of Wister is home to a woofderful section of the Old Frisco Trail! This 6.5-mile multiuse rail-trail has beautiful scenery you and your leashed dog will enjoy along your jaunt! The trail travels through tunnels of lush trees, wide open prairies, farmland, wetlands and more. If you and your four-legged friend would rather visit a park, you’re in luck! The Wister Pride Park is a pawsome place to hang out with your pooch in the area! There’s a walking path, an adorable gazebo, lots of grass, picnic tables and a playground.
You and your furry pal will have a blast exploring the South Wister neighborhood’s Lake Wister State Park! About eleven miles from Poteau, this state park has tons of woofderful fun things to do, including pawsome hiking trails! Leash your pup and check out the Lone Star Nature Trail for furrific exercise and views of the surrounding wetlands. Be sure to visit scenic Quarry Island where there is a boat dock and ramp, campsites and picnic areas. Throughout the park, you and your dog will find lots of wide open grassy meadows lined with lush trees, perfect for playtime. Make a getaway of your trip and reserve a pet-friendly cabin, tent campsite or RV spot!
Take a unique walk through the woods with your leashed pup in this Heavener neighborhood, about 13 miles from Poteau. The area’s main attraction is the expansive 55-acre Heavener Runestone Park, a series of rocky cliffs beneath a canopy of dense hardwood forest. You and your pup will be stunned by the scenery that includes waterfalls flowing forth from the cliffs into pools below, carved stone steps and walkways, and trees growing up from the rocks. There is quite a bit of Viking folklore surrounding the park, and a large stone with supposed Viking hieroglyphics etched into it. It’s a pawsome place for you and Fido to enjoy a stroll with a twist of adventure!
