Hillsboro is nestled in the Tualatin Valley just west of Portland. It’s the fifth largest city in Oregon, and the headquarters for many large tech companies, earning it the nickname Silicon Forest. With such a beautiful natural setting and a large amount of parks, it’s no wonder that dogs in Hillsboro are such happy hounds.
Pups living in Hillsboro have access to over two dozen parks. Noble Woods Park is a local canine favorite. Spanning 38 acres, this park has trails that wind through open and wooded areas, as well as boardwalks and bridges over Rock Creek. Orchard Park is another pawsome place for dogs. Your furry friend can sniff his way around the paved paths while getting his daily exercise. Keep in mind that no matter which Hillsboro park you visit, dogs are not allowed in the wetlands, ponds or streams.
Hillsboro also has a number of pet friendly restaurants, so go ahead and schedule a dinner date with your furry BFF. The rustic McMenamins Rock Creek Tavern features menu items made from local ingredients. The outside patio seating is pet friendly. For a hearty meal, head over to Copper River and order fried chicken, filet mignon, or beer infused bratwurst. Your furry pal can join you at one of the outdoor tables. Sounds like a woofin’ good time!
Sometimes dogs just need a place to let loose. If your pup is ready to run, head over to Hondo Dog Park in the Meek Road neighborhood. Let your four legged friend ditch the leash and bolt around the open space. She’ll love socializing with her fellow canines while enjoying some fresh air. There is a separate area for small dogs, as well as an area for pups of all shapes and sizes. Large trees provide shade during the hot months and there is also a doggy drinking fountain. While your pooch is having fun, take some laps around the walking path or just relax on one of the benches.
Next time your pup needs a walk, clip on her leash and head over for the Tanasbourne neighborhood to check out Rock Creek Trail. This is a pawsome place for your furry friend to get her daily dose of doggy exercise. The trail runs alongside Rock Creek Greenway and provides views of the surrounding woodlands and meadows. For a change of scenery, check out Evergreen Park. Not only does this park have sport courts and a playground, it also has paved paths and a large grassy area. There is a drinking fountain available. Bring a bowl so your furry friend can stay hydrated.
If you’re looking for a new place to walk your four legged friend, head over to Orenco and check out Orenco Woods Nature Park. This 42 acre park displays the local natural beauty with its rolling hills, open meadows, and forested area. Listen to the birds chirp as your stroll around with your leashed pup. He’ll love following his nose through the network of looped trails that spread throughout the park. Please note that dogs are only able to use the paved trails, not the gravel or wood chip trails. A trip to this park will definitely make his tail wag!
The Hillsboro Highway and Wood Street neighborhood is home to a couple puptastic parks, so schedule an afternoon for some park hopping with your pooch. Leash up your pup and start at Dairy Creek Park. This park has both developed and natural areas. Take some laps around the walking path, and if your pup is in an adventurous mood, follow one of the side trails to Dairy Creek. Next, head over to Shute Park. Horseshoe pits, a playground and a pickleball court are all available, but your furry friend will be more interested in the paved walking trail. Three loops provide plenty of space for him to strut his stuff.
Folks living in Hillsboro love Rood Bridge Park, and so will your pup. Nestled in the River Road and Rood Bridge Road neighborhood, this 59 acre park is a one pupular spot. Clip on your furry friend’s leash and stroll past meadows, creeks, woods and ponds. The Woodland Pond Loop is .26 mile, East Side Loop is .28 mile and the Lake Side Loop is .68 mile. If you have a perky pooch, you may have to circle the loops a couple times or follow one of the side trails down to the Tualatin River. Your buddy will enjoy being by your side in such a pawsome setting.
