Short Dog Names

As the President of the United States, everyone really gets to know that individual and their family through the public eye. While this is without a doubt taxing from time to time, there is a lot of good that can be done throughout the world just by allowing people to see positive influences and actions that our leader acts upon. Additionally, in the case of the Obamas who owned dogs, everyone gets to experience and fall in love with their adorable pets; even if it isn't in person. Sunny and Bo are Portuguese Water Dogs with big hearts and even bigger fur. This affectionate and adventurous dog breed was originally created to be a working companion for fisherman. Tasked with helping the fisherman of Portugal herd fish into nets, retrieve lost tackle, and carry messages between ships and the shore, the Portuguese Water Dog is very intelligent and eager to please. When it comes to whether or not this breed is fit for the White House, there really seems to be no doubt. Thanks to their light, low-shedding, curly coat, the Portuguese Water Dog is an excellent option for those who have allergies or who don't want a lot of fur everywhere; not to mention families with other pets or small children, as the breed seems to get along well with everyone. 

Bo and Sunny are great examples of this. Bo was gifted to the family by Senator Kennedy after the Obamas had narrowed their selections down to either the Portuguese Water Dog or a Labradoodle. These two specific breeds were considered specifically because Malia Obama had allergies and the family needed pets that would work with that. Bo was exactly what they needed and along with being able to go inside the Oval Office, Bo has even been called "First Dog" on a number of different occasions. A while later, it seemed that the family just couldn't get enough of the breed, so they decided to purchase Sunny, a sister for Bo. Although many of the Humane Societies wished that the Obama family had adopted a dog instead of purchasing one (as the family originally intended to do) there is no doubt that the President went the extra mile to still make a difference in some way. He made a charitable donation to the Humane Society in Sunny's name in order to further aid in their quest to help dogs everywhere.
