Introduction
Spanish Water Dog Names in Pop Culture
To say that this gorgeous white and brown particolored Spanish Water Dog is impressive would be an understatement. Not only is Jango extremely well groomed and stately, he is also extremely athletic and intelligent. According to the Purina ProClub article featuring Jango, he has been the Number 1 Spanish Water Dog in show since 2015. On top of this, he has been dubbed the Number 7 herding dog and even won Best of Breed 2 years running at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show in the years 2016 and 2017. There is no doubt that Jango is out to win, and he isn't afraid to show his best at all times.
From even the young age of 5 months, Jango's owners Faith Ott and Janet Rahn (who run a dog kennel in Ridgeland, South Carolina) noticed that he had a very smooth gait and a showman's personality. Due to these natural tendencies, it was Janet who decided this little dog could capture the hearts of many judges and potentially make his way to the top. So in the year 2014, Janet began to campaign for Jango. It didn't take long for Jango to grab people's attention (as we can see from above when he was declared No. 1 Spanish Water Dog in 2015) and when his career took off, Janet and Faith hired a pro handler by the name of Nina Fetter to step in and take the reigns. From that moment on, Nina helped Jango to reach his full potential and win two Bests in Show along with another win in the 26 Herding Group Firsts.
Just looking at photos of Jango, it easy to see that he is completely comfortable in the spotlight and eats up the attention given to him. His beautiful fur, impressive stance, and happy smile warm your heart and make it very clear why he has had so much success. Of course, the hard work of his owners and trainer helped to guide the young dog into becoming his best self. Even if you don't want to turn your dog into a super star, you may be surprised by how much can be accomplished with simple, every day training. When it comes to very intelligent dogs like the Spanish Water Dog (who were originally herding and hunting dogs), it is important to provide them with the mental stimulation needed to be their very best. Most dogs truly enjoy learning and spending time with their masters, so even if you don't have a Spanish Water Dog in particular, be sure to spend quality time with them so they can live up to their wonderful potential just like Jango.
Spanish Water Dog Name Considerations
Although choosing a name for your Spanish Water Dog may seem a bit challenging, it can actually be really simple if you have a theme idea in mind. Some people may choose a moniker that reflects the Spanish heritage of the breed, while others may go down the "water" themed path. While these options are rather common and solid choices (also being the themes that we tend to focus on in this list) there are many other amazing name choices that could be used for the unique Spanish Water Dog. For example, due to the breed's interesting, curly coat, a few name examples could be something like "Lopi", "Arroyo", and "Merino". All of these names are brands or types of wool yarn, which is exactly what the fur of the Spanish Water Dog tends to resemble! These titles are unique, fun, and definitely a conversation starter.
Thanks to the hard working behavior of the Spanish Water Dog and their medium to large size, another great set of name examples include "Caspian", "Cascade", and "Triton". These are water themed titles that are impressive and represent the immense and lovely personality of this breed. Honestly, no matter what you decide to name a Spanish Water Dog, their is no doubt that their nature and appearance will boost the name, making it all the more special!
