Star Wars Inspired Cat Names

One of the most iconic Star Wars characters, Yoda is. Easily recognizable by his green skin, pointy ears, and unique speaking style, Yoda was a legendary Jedi Master revered for his wisdom and power. Despite his small stature, he was stronger than most in his connection with the Force, training generations of Jedi for more than 800 years.

Though he wasn’t a feline and belonged to a mysterious species whose name and origin were never revealed, Yoda possessed several cat-like qualities. He had a nonchalant temperament and always maintained his composure even when insulted. He never showed fear, even when faced with danger. He wasn’t impassive, however, and his highly sensitive ears would sometimes express his emotions, such as curling when he was surprised. 

At the Jedi Temple, Yoda enjoyed alone time and often meditated in the garden. Despite his age and seriousness, he had a sense of humor and frequently poked fun at those around him. He was also remarkably spry for his age and was extremely skilled in lightsaber combat and Force techniques. 

With Yoda being one of the most-loved characters in Star Wars, it’s not surprising that a lot of cat parents chose to name their furchildren after him. One such feline who shares the green Jedi Master’s name is Beth and Howard Stern’s rescue cat, whom Beth first met at the animal shelter. Yoda the Persian was in bad shape and didn’t want anything to do with anyone, but Beth chose him and took him home.

At the Sterns’ house, Yoda found his life purpose. Beth fosters kittens, and it wasn’t long before they became Yoda’s kittens—he would keep them safe, make sure they eat, and even clean up after them.
