Florida City is a sunny and warm place that has plenty of great things to do with your dog. In this city, you and your pup can go for walks at dog-friendly parks and dine together at dog-friendly restaurants. While there are no veterinarians in Florida City, there are six highly-rated clinics in its neighboring town, Homestead.
Want to spend the day out in the park with your dog? Head over to Biscayne National Park, which is just nine miles away from Florida City in Homestead. Dogs are welcome on-leash in the Elliott Key portion of this park. Here, you and your dog can hike on a one-mile loop trail that starts by the park’s campground. You can also hike on the beautiful “spite highway,” a six-mile trail that goes through the center of the island, passing through tropical hardwood forests. Whichever trail you choose, you’re sure to have a great hike here!
For another good hike, check out Audubon Park in Homestead. Here, you can take an on-leash walk with your pup on the park’s walking path. This path is paved and flat, making it easy for dogs to walk on, and it goes past open fields and groves of trees. You and your pup will always have a fun time in this park and in the many other pawesome parks in and around Florida City!
This Florida City neighborhood is home to Fasulo Park, where dogs are welcome on-leash. Here, you can walk your dog on a paved walking path that winds through the entire park. Along the way, the path passes a lake, large fields, and groves of palm trees. Bring some doggy bags and water, and enjoy walking with your dog in this beautiful park. If walking in the park makes you hungry, grab lunch with your dog at Capri Restaurant. This restaurant serves classic Italian cuisine, including pasta dishes that feature freshly caught seafood. Dogs are welcome at Capri’s five outdoor tables.
Looking for a place where your dog can play off-leash? Head over to the dog park in Mayor Roscoe Warren Municipal Park, which is just about two miles from Florida City. Here, your dog can run and play in separate large and small dog areas. Both areas have lots of agility equipment for your dog to play on, including ramps, tires, and tunnels. There’s also water for your pup in the dog park. After the dog park, take your pup for an on-leash walk on Mayor Roscoe Warren Municipal Park’s walking path. You and your pooch will both enjoy strolling on this park’s flat and paved path.
If you’re searching for another furrific dog park, check out James Archer Smith Bark Park. This dog park is only three miles from Florida City, and it has agility equipment for your dog to play on, including ramps, tunnels, and platforms. There’s also a separate area for small dogs to play in, and doggy water fountains are provided as well. If you’re looking for a good place to grab lunch after the dog park, try White Lion Café. This restaurant welcomes dogs in their beautiful tropical garden, and they serve an eclectic mix of traditional American dishes, Cuban fare, and Italian cuisine.
This Palmetto Bay neighborhood is home to the always fun Perrine Wayside Dog Park. This off-leash area is 17 miles from Florida City, and it has three acres of fenced-in space where your dog can play and make new friends. Plus, if your dog likes swimming, there’s a large lake in this dog park where your pup can splash around. If swimming makes your dog thirsty, doggy water fountains are available. As your dog plays, you can watch from the benches in Perrine Wayside’s shady gazebo. Your dog will love running around and swimming at this pawesome dog park!
Miami’s Olympia Heights neighborhood is home to Tropical Dog Park. Located about 25 miles from Florida City, this dog park has separate small and large dog areas, and it also has an obstacle course for your dog to play on. If your dog gets messy while they’re playing, there’s a doggy shower available. There are also doggy water fountains for thirsty pups. After the dog park, continue your fun day out with lunch at Sergio’s, a restaurant that serves classic Cuban sandwiches, chicken and seafood dishes, and more. Enjoy your meal at one of Sergio’s dog-friendly outdoor tables.
