Lauderdale By the Sea is a beautiful waterfront barrio island town located within Broward County, Florida. This town is situated between The Village of Sea Ranch Lakes and Fort Lauderdale to the south and Pompano Beach in the north. The town easily connects to the mainland by the Intracoastal Waterway. Known as the Florida’s Beach Diving Capital, coral reefs can be found nearby, making this town popular with scuba divers. This town has many hotels and other accommodations, several of which are dog friendly.
Lodging accommodations range in price, but remain relatively cheap in Lauderdale By the Sea. You and your dog are welcome to stay at any of the Airbnb rentals in this town, several beachside homes, or private beach houses. Although some restrictions may apply, lodging accommodations in this town are well-liked and affordable.
There are five dog-friendly restaurants in this town as well. The local favorite is Anglin’s Beach Café, which has earned a five-star rating from frequent visitors. This restaurant has breathtaking waterfront views and tables which welcome leashed pups. This restaurant serves everything from seafood to traditional American comfort food. For an added benefit, most of the food here is organic! The other local restaurants also serve seafood, American comfort food, deserts, and Thai food.

There are several dog-friendly places, but none come close to Athena by the Sea for home cooked meals. They are a family-owned restaurant that pulls from traditional family recipes to make authentic Greek dishes that will leave your mouth watering. The patio is perfectly set back from the street so that you can be comfortable and feel safe while you enjoy your meal. So, come enjoy an evening sampling appetizers and enjoying friends.
Village Grille and Village Pump is a furtastic place to bring your dog after a nice walk along the beach. They are only about a block from the beach. You can enjoy a wide range of seafood, from mussels to clam chowder, depending on what you are in the mood for. The terrace is right on the beach and is the perfect spot for brunch with your dog. Fido will even receive his own water bowl at the same time the server brings your drinks. The entire staff is pet-friendly and ready to enjoy your company.
Just 7 miles from Lauderdale by the Sea is the famous city of Fort Lauderdale. Here, there are lots of opportunities for you to spend the entire day with your dog. One of the places to check out is Fort Lauderdale Canine Beach. This is an on-leash dog beach that will allow you to ride the waves with your dog. They provide drinking water for you and your buddy. You’ll appreciate the cleaning stations that are set up with baggies. It is a little close to a busy road, but there is a safety officer to help make sure that your dog stays safe. Come enjoy a day of fun in the sun at the doggie beach!
If you go 17 miles from Lauderdale by the Sea, you will get to Canine Cove at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton. It is a completely fenced-in dog park that has separate areas for little dogs or dogs that get overwhelmed easily. There are water stations set up to make sure that Fido always has fresh water to drink. The ground does tend to get muddy after a good rain, but don’t worry too much about it. There are bathing centers where you can wash the dirt and mud from Fido’s fur before hopping back in the car and heading home.
