Viera
The Viera neighborhood in Cocoa is about a mile from Port Saint John, and is home to a park that your dog will no doubt love. The Fay Lake Wilderness Park stretches out for just over 192 acres, and is not only home to a 27 acre fishing lake, picnic areas and walking trails, but also to the Fay Lake Wilderness Dog Park. The dog park is fully fenced-off, so your pooch can run safely off the lead, with separate areas for small and large dogs, and benches for owners to socialize too. While water fountains are provided at this dog park, you will need to bring your own doggie bags with you.

Bellwood
Just over two miles from Port Saint John is the Titusville neighborhood of Bellwood, where you will find a couple of pawtastic activities to enjoy with your pup. The Tom Statham Park is right by the Indian River Lagoon, offering up spectacular waterfront views along with a playground, picnic shelters, paved walkways and a boardwalk. If you need somewhere nearby to spend the night with Fido, the Manatee Hammock Campground not only allows dogs to stay with their owners, but even has its own fenced-off enclosure so that you can let your dog run off the lead for a while. Other than in this enclosure, you will need to keep your pooch on a lead throughout the campground.

Cheney Hwy/ S Washington Ave
About two and a half miles from Port Saint John is this Titusville neighborhood, which is home to a couple of pawsome parks. The W. W. James Park is a popular park for baseball games, and also boasts a picnic pavilion and a paved walking trail, while the Kennedy Point Park has a scenic walkway that follows alongside the shoreline. If you would like to treat your pooch to a meal after all of that exercise, there are a couple of dog-friendly restaurants in the neighborhood. New York New York is a riverside restaurant that serves up surf and turf options, while the Playalinda Brewing Brix Project specializes in both house-brewed and guest beers, and also has a tasty food menu.

Cocoa City Center
The City Center of Cocoa is five miles from Port Saint John, and the journey is worth it thanks to all of the parks that are located here. McFarland Park is the first one that you will come across, with its fishing pier and picnic areas, while the nearby Magnolia Point offers up some stunning waterfront views. Further south in the neighborhood is the 10 acre Cocoa Riverfront Park, with an amphitheater, playground, pavilions and boardwalk. Not too far away from here lies the 12 acre Lee Wenner Park, which again has picnic pavilions, a playground and boardwalk access. Although dogs are allowed to use all of these parks, you will need to ensure that you keep your pooch on a lead at all times.

Southmere
The neighborhood of Southmere in Mims is five miles from Port Saint John, and is home to the St. Johns National Wildlife Refuge, which stretches out for 6255 acres. There are a number of extinct animal and plant species that call this area home, so make sure to keep your dog on a lead so that these precious natural habitats are not disrupted in any way. The 31 acre Fox Lake Park is also worth a visit, as it boasts lakeside views, a playground, a fishing dock, sports facilities and seven miles of hiking trails, with many signs along the way to teach you about all of the native birds you will see around you.
